What A Year?!

2012 has being the most amazing year.

In January mark took me to edinburgh zoo to see the pandas. Paige came along for the ride in my belly :) we had such an amazing time and I did something I have always dreamt of... Seeing not one giant pandas but two!

The next major thing I will always remember this year for, is the birth to a beautiful baby girl and the time she grew and developed into the 7 month old that she is now.

It has gone so fast, too fast.

In the blink of an eye Paige went from a newborn to a crawling baby. From not being able to hold her own head to sitting up by herself.

Nothing compares to giving birth and having a baby. It made 2012 the most magical year ever. The year I will always treasure and the year that will always have a special place in my heart.

I wonder what 2013 will hold?

Paige is Crawling

Paige is officially crawling!! Crazy!!

She started rocking on all fours on December 5th. She then quickly moved on to crawling backwards, all before she was 7 months old.

Two weeks later she crawled forwards for the first time. I'll be honest it brought a tear to my eye. To see her so grown up and mobile was such an amazing thing and the pride I felt was unbelievable.

She kind of left crawling over Christmas as she wasn't very well. And now she is feeling better she is perfecting her crawling and getting very good.

We now need to baby proof our house and quickly! I still can't believe the time has come for her to start crawling. This along with her pulling up to standing is a lot to deal with.

The fun now begins!!!!

Paige's First Christmas

We decide to be selfish this year and stayed at home, just us three and Millie. Is that allowed? We wanted Paige's first Christmas to be just us at home enjoying lots of family time. Mark has 12 days off work so we are loving every second at the moment.

Our day started early at 5am due to a poorly baby. Our next major event of the day happened at 5:20am when Paige was sick all over me. Thank you sweetie :) Apart from that the day went well. Paige was in a good mood but wasn't really in a playing mood as she was ill. We opened presents, ate yummy food and just spent time together. It was perfect.

Paige got so many toys and clothes. I think we now need to move just to make room for everything. I know she wouldn't of really understood what was going on but I'm sure she loved every second.

Boxing day was also lovely, again just the three of us. Paige felt much better and had a wonderful day playing with all her new toys.

We had the most wonderful time and will always remember this special first Christmas together. I'm already thinking about next year too!!

How was your Christmas?

7 Months Old

7 months old already!! Each month honestly feels like a week. It goes so quickly.

Paige has leant so much this month. Most of which in the last couple of weeks.

She started getting onto all fours and the next day learnt how to crawl backwards. She has just started to go forwards now. First she figured out her arms and today moved her legs forwards and she was off. She also learnt how to pull up and started cruising along the sofa on the same day.

The day before this she learnt how to sign Milk in baby sign language. You can read about that HERE. I was very surprised at this as I have only shown her the sign a few times. I always thought you had to e regular and keep on top of things like that. I guess Paige will take well to sign language so I've decided to teach her a few more signs.

She was sleeping through until she started teething quite badly. She still has no teeth. I wonder if she will get one for Christmas? :)

She has also developed stranger anxiety. You can read about that HERE.

She has been doing well with her solids until she started teething badly and now she has a little cough and a cold so isn't very interested in food. She still loves finger food and has added tuna pasta bake too her list of things she has tried along with carrots and banana. She wasn't very keen on the banana at all.

She continues to be a chatter box which I love. She is saying mama, dada, nana and hiya. Well it sounds like hiya!! Haha. She is starting to learn when to say the right thing and will look at Mark and say Dada or me and say Mama.

Her hair is growing so much. The bits that fell out and got thinner are now well on there way and growing back. Her fringe is also getting long.

Baby Sign Language

When I was pregnant I decided that when Paige was old enough I wanted to try out baby sign language just to see if she would take to it.

Well the amazing news is that she has taken too it like a duck to water.

I decided the first sign I would teach her would be milk. I started signing to Paige when she had her bottle. I didn't sign it to her every time she had a bottle like maybe you're meant to but she picked up on it and sure enough she signs it now when she wants milk.

At first it didn't click and I thought she was just playing with her hand but then something clicked when she started fussing like she was hungry. I remembered the sign and couldn't believe that she was signing to me asking for milk. How amazing that a 6 month old can communicate to their mum that they want milk!! Children are amazing!!

I am going to carry on properly and teach her a few more signs.

I'm hoping to teach her mummy, daddy, cat and more. These are part of the top 10 basic baby sign language signs are they are strongly driven with what the baby wants.

Have you tried baby sign language?

Stranger Anxiety

Paige has defiantly developed stranger anxiety.

Stranger anxiety normally happens between the ages of  6-12 months. It is very common and the child can become very shy or cry around strange people of even people they just haven't seen for a while.

We first noticed when mark took Paige to a local shop to get some hair clips. The young girl that works there is super lovely and Paige has always given her a smile. This time she looked at her and screamed.

Thinking not much of it my mum and her partner came to visit. Now Paige hadn't seem them for nearly a couple of months. And sure enough when she saw them she didn't remember them and screamed until I was holding her. Even then it still took her a while to come round to the idea of being close to them and having a cuddle.

Paige as her normal smiley self :)
My friend came to visit and she comes around every two weeks or so. I thought it was be quite interesting to see how Paige reacted too her and if she would remember. She did and was smiling and giggling in no time!!

Have you deal with stranger anxiety with your baby? We found that toys helped Paige. I think they kind of took her mind off the fact newish people were around as she had familiar toys with her. What also helped was me staying calm and holding her close.

Paige's Top 5 Toys 0-6 Months

With Christmas coming up in the next couple of weeks I thought i'd do a post on Paige's top 5 toys. Just in case you have a baby the same age and are a little stuck as to what to buy :)

In reverse order....

5. Rattle
4. Lulu in a Tutu
3. Crawl Ball
2. Bath Book
1. V Tech Book

Paige has a few different rattles but loves this one the best. It is just a simple rattle by Bright Starts. I do love their toys! We got this rattle in a set from Asda before Paige was born.

Lulu in a Tutu
I love lamaze products and so does Paige. They are good value for money, fab characters, bright colours and interesting for babies. To see our review on Lulu please look HERE.

Vtech Crawl Ball
This was meant to be a Christmas presents for Paige but because she is trying so hard to crawl we though this might help her. It is the VTech Crawl and Learn Bright Lights Ball. Paige has it in pink which you can buy from other shops.

Bath Book
This bath book is great. Paige loves it. We can either sit down with her and look through the book reader the words or looking at the pictures (it has different sea animals inside) or we can just give it to her and she loves chewing on it.

V Tech musical book
This is the V Tech Peek- A-Boo Book in pink. This was around £12 and is by far  Paige's favourite to right now. She loves listening to the songs and also playing with the different buttons inside.

What is your child's favourite toy?

Getting Ready For Christmas

Each year I look forward to putting the tree up and seem to do it earlier each year. This year it was December 1st. I know loads of people that put their decorations up in November... did you?

We normally have a lovely 6ft Christmas tree but this year we only have a 5ft :( that is because last year Millie decided to destroy the tree so we didn't fancy paying a lot of money on a fancy tree just for Millie to destroy it again. So far so good! It has only been up a few days so far though.

But here it is...

I always decorate the tree but i'm hoping that next year Paige will want to help mummy. This year she loves looking at the lights.

Yes we have pink furry balls on our Christmas and a shoe!!

We also have come cute name baubles and just had to get Paige one this year to match her mummy and daddy.

And we have some cute me to you bear decorations too!

We also have a few decorations around and of course advent calenders :)

Next year we want to go all out on lights and decorations and I will have my big tree back!!!

REVIEW - Pink Lining Queensdale Tote Black Cab

Pink Lining are the must have bag for every yummy mummy.

Today I have the queensdale tote black cabs bag to review.

Queensdale Tote Black Cabs £55
As you can see the bag is cream, black and pink. It matches me and our pram perfectly! I love the cab design as it feels very British and contemporary. Its stands out without being too in your face. It is gorgeous

The features
This bag has so many features. The pen holder, a strap for your keys, the huge size, two big pockets inside plus a smaller zipped pocket and two huge pockets on the front.

The handles are also very handy. They can detach and clip back on in a way that you can attach it over your pushchair handles. This is a pretty cool feature but sadly when I attach them over our pushchair the bag hangs pretty far down so hits my legs every two seconds. The bag doesn't fit on the bars if the straps are used in the traditional way. To combat this I would love to see maybe some pink lining buggy straps that could be used instead of the handles. For now I can get around this problem but looping the straps under the bars a couple of times but this doesn't look as cute as it could.

The bag isn't a changing bag. It is perfect for work, the gym or just a shopping trip. But you can also purchase the pink lining changing mat and zip lock wet bag and the bag becomes a changing bag. No it doesn't have the extra pockets or the insulated bottle holders but for me they would have been a waste anyway as Paige prefers her milk at room temperature. The range of changing bags is gorgeous. Ranging from the classic yummy mummy to the lovely poppins bag.

Changing mat and zip lock wet bag £5
The changing mat is very padded so I'm sure will be very comfortable for your little one. I would like it to be a little bigger because as you know Paige is huge so doesn't fit on it properly.

The zip lock wet bag is big enough to hold a change of clothes just in case your little one has an accident.

Overall the best thing about this bag is the size. I love big bags as I tend to want to take everything with me when we go out just in case. You never know what might happen. And with this bag you can plus a lot more!!

Have you got a pink lining bag?

Building Blocks

Paige loves her new favourite game. It's very simple.

Mummy builds the blocks.

And Paige knocks them down.

She gets so excited and either hits the tower with her hand or with another block.

I'm hoping it will teach her more about cause and effect. She seems to be understanding so far.

Do you have any other fun game ideas to teach her?
