New Camera

If you have seen my news years resolution post HERE you will know that I wanted a new camera. And I now have one :)

I was saving up for one and mark very kindly gave me the rest of the money I needed to buy it.

I got the Nikon d3100. This looked like the perfect beginners camera and so far I am very happy with it. I'm still playing around with it and have only had it a few days but I love it.

Here are a few of the pictures I've taken so far. Be nice... I'm still learning :)

Mark Does My Makeup

I love watching the tag videos on YouTube and one of my favourite is my husband/boyfriend does my make up. Now while I'm not quite brave enough to do a video (maybe one day) I thought I would do a blog post.

So here it is...
The not so lovely before.
I gave Mark a selection of make up products to use and tried my best not to help. I thought he would do a bit better than he did but in the end the only thing he didn't really do well was my eye make up but he did skipped part of that anyway... more on that later.

First off he started with foundation. He used my one and only foundation which is Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid in Ivory and I love it. To my surprise he decided to blend this in using a blusher brush!! A new technique that I wouldn't recommend but it worked ok! This foundation really is amazing even when applied with a blusher brush.

Next up was eye shadow... He had a couple of MUA palettes to choose from and decided to choose a gold colour. He chose this colour because it looked like the funniest one (his words not mine). Staying with the eyes he then applied eye liner. He used a black pencil from Rimmel. He then tried to use a lip gloss as mascara and I had to step in. I didn't fancy that happening! He then decided that he didn't like my eyes with mascara on anyway so missed it out. Personally I think he was scared by it :)

For my face he used a Maybelline cream blush and blended this in using his fingers, I think he did a pretty good job. He also applied a little bronzer using an eye shadow brush, hehe.

Mark normally says that he loves my freckles, me personally I hate them! So I was very surprised when he said that he was using a concealer to cover my freckles. Thanks babe!! Personally I'd use it to cover my dark circles.

He finished off with about five different lipsticks and there we have it.

The finished look!

Overall he didn't do a bad job. My face make up looked good but I'm not too keen on my eye shadow.

What do you think?

If you want to see how I normally do my make up, check out my five minute mummy make up post

Review - Vital Baby

Unbelievabowl Set
They say that we are quick to judge and first impressions mean a lot so Vital Baby defiantly have a good thing going with their packaging as I love it. When trying to get the bowl out of the packaging though I must admit I found it a little hard. I'm not sure if it's just me or if the packaging is hard to open.

When using the bowl I was very impressed. On many occasions Paige has tipped her food out of her bowl if I have accidentally left it on her high chair tray but with the unbelievabowl she can't do that. The bottom parts suctions onto the Highchair and the bowl fits on top. A bowl that can't be knocked off a surface and can't spill :) The suction does work very well but you have to make sure that it is suctioned onto surface as Paige has lifted the bowl clean off her highchair when not suctioned on properly.

Three different colours are available and at £4.99 for the set and then £3.99 for additional bowls in sets of two, they get a big thumbs up from us.

Soft Tip Weaning spoons
On first impressions these spoons looked great. Paige loved eating from them as the tip is large so she can get a good lot of food at once :) the tip is also soft and flexible to protect little gums. As a parent using the spoons I have to say that I love the feel of the spoons but wish the handles were a little longer. I don't have the biggest hands and I found them quite awkward to hold and feed Paige. I asked mark to have a little go at the weekend and he found the same thing. Comparing them too our other spoons they are a lot smaller. They would be great for travelling and popping in the changing bag though. You also get five in a set which is fab!

Comparing them to our other spoons.

They too come in the three different colours and for a pack of five are £3.49.

Have you tried Vital Baby?

Paige's First Snow

As you will probably know the snow has being quite bad in the UK this past weekend. Luckily we didn't have it as bad as some places so that meant we could get out with Paige to our local park have some fun.

Paige was so fascinated watching the snow from inside the house and that didn't stop once she was outside. She loved sitting in her pram and watching the snow falling. Here are a few pictures from our day.

I just love her gorgeous Minnie Mouse snowsuit that my fabulous friend got her for Christmas. Perfect timing if you ask me :) It must have been very warm as on our way back home Paige fell asleep.
Did you have fun in the snow?

8 Months Old

Paige's first update in 2013 and she is 8 months old already!!

I feel like I say this every month but she has come so far this month. She is now a pro crawler, pulls up on everything all of the time... Even me! She cruises along the sofa and loves standing up against it. She can stand by herself for at least 10 seconds. She loves to pretend to be a big girl. She knows how to sit down from standing up and climbs into and out of her ball pit. She also climbs out of her baby snug chair... She has figured out how to pull the tray off and climb out!! She also got her first teeth. Two came in one after the other a couple of weeks ago. To read more about her teeth check out my post HERE.

I honestly dont feel like she is a baby anymore.

She fits in mostly 9-12m clothes, sleeps around 12hours a night and sleeps through apart from when teething. Poor thing. She has dropped one nap so has two naps a day now. One around 11am and the other around 3/4pm. She normally naps for an hour or an hour and a half each time.

She is eating two meals a day and drinking plenty of milk. She loves her milk.

She is starting to wave and says mama all the time. She used to say dada but has stopped now. She also gives kisses which are the sweetest thing EVER!

BritMums Live 2013 - Sponsorship Plea

I have been blogging properly for just over a year now. I started my blog in July 2011 but got serious in January last year when I started blogging about my pregnancy.

I try hard to help my blog develop and grow but I want to try harder. Part of me trying harder is stepping out from behind the computer screen and going to the biggest blog event of the year BritMums Live!

A little bit about Britmums Live...

BritMums Live! is the UK’s biggest, two-day social media conference and blogger event, where lifestyle bloggers and social influencers gather to meet and socialise, network with brands, improve their skills, and fire their creativity. BritMums Live has grown out of BritMums, the UK’s largest parent blogger community, made up of more than 4,200 influential bloggers who create content about lifestyle, crafting, food, health, travel, education, tech, style and more.

I am looking for sponsorship to cover the costs of me going to the event which will include travel, accommodation and the BritMums Live ticket.

In return for your generous sponsorship I am offering...

A badge/ advert on my blog for 12 months with a direct link to your website
A post introducing you as my sponsor
Reviews of your products on my blog
Giveaways of your products on my blog
I will tweet about your company before and during BritMums Live!
I will be handing out my business cards with you clearly stated as my sponsor
I will also wear a branded badge to promote your company throughout the event

If you have anymore ideas I am very happy to talk it through... I'm sure we can come too an agreement. (Please note I can't hand out any samples or marketing material on the premises of BritMums Live!)

I would love the company to be mummy/baby/toddler focused as this would fit perfectly with my blog. I am so excited for BritMums Live! and to work with a very special company.

This is both a great opportunity for me and you. If this sounds like something your company would like to be involved in please get in touch via email at or via twitter @nicolabear987

Review - Ella's Kitchen Cheery Chicken Roast Dinner

If you have seen my post on the Ella's kitchen porridge HERE you will know that me and Paige love Ella's Kitchen and their food punches are no different.

With the Ella's Kitchen Cherry Chicken Roast Dinner Paige can join in when we have a Sunday dinner and I know all the ingredients are organic and good for her. Its the perfect situation.

The best thing I love, apart from the organic ingredients, is the texture. We have tried other baby foods with lumps in suitable from 7 months and Paige isn't keen. But Ella's kitchen pouches are textured not lumpy and are perfect. I also love the top. This makes it perfect for little hands to squeeze the yummy food right into theirs mouth and the cap lets you store the food in the fridge after it is open.

So much so we had to buy loads more :)

Thanks for reading,

Nicola Xxx

*Disclaimer* We were provided with samples of Ella's kitchen pouches and loved them so much I decided to do a review.

Are You Going Back To Work?

I'm sure like many mums to be I signed up to lots of baby clubs when I was pregnant. Cow and gate, Mothercare, Asda to name a few. I love getting the letters each month or so with information on what sort of Paige should be doing, tips, recipes and money off vouchers.

But lately all the ones I am getting are about returning back to work. Which is fair enough if you are returning to back after maternity leave but what if you aren't? What if you plan on being a stay at home mum?

I'm going to be a full time mum to Paige for as long as I can. I want to spend everyday with her and watch her grow. I want to teach her things and play and learn together.

I understand that many people simply can't afford and I am very lucky that we can but we pay the price. For example we don't have a car.

Marks earns an ok wage and with that we can pay all the bills and get everything Paige needs. We manage just fine and if we want/need something we save up for it.

I have looked into getting a part time job for when Paige is around 1 but I'm not sure it's worth it.... after childcare is paid for do I really want to spend time away from Paige for the sake of an extra £50 a week??

Me and mark always agreed that I would stay home with Paige and I am very happy to do so. A lot of people don't think of staying at home as a real job but I do. I'm on call 24 hours a day, I cook, clean and run around after a baby. I don't get proper breaks because even when baby is sleeping I'm always doing something or thinking of the next game we can play to keep her entertained, happy and learning. To me it's the hardest job around but all the payment I need is received in smiles from my little girl. I may moan to Mark about what a rough day I've had thanks to teething or a grumpy baby but I wouldn't change my job for the world and I know many women would love to be in my situation.

If your one of them people that don't think being a stay at home mum isn't a job why not try it one day and see how you feel after!
