40 Weeks and 6 Days

My beautiful girl,

You have now been outside in the big world longer than you were inside me for today you are 40 weeks and 6 days old.

Mummy kept you warm, safe and snuggly for 40 weeks and 5 days!! Them extra 5 days are very important to me. At the time I wanted to meet you so quickly but now I wish I could relive the last few days over again. To feel you kick and hiccup and of course to give birth to you again. To hold and kiss you for the first time over and over again.

It was the most magical day of mine and daddy's life. The whole world stood still while we looked into your big beautiful eyes. To be honest my labour with you is a little bit of a blur as I look back on it but I will never forget the moments I first saw you. And I always have daddy to ask for details as he got me through each little bit!

I long for my tiny baby but now I have something just as wonderful. A beautiful little girl. You may only be just over 9 months old but you are no longer a baby. And now mummy can't wait until your walking your talking and can truely understand how much you are loved.

It's crazy to think that we have known about you for a whole 18 months. How quickly time has flown.

We can't wait to get to know you more as you grow into the big world around you.

We love you Xx

Review - Baker Days Letter Box Cake

With mothers day just around the corner you may be looking for the perfect gift. I have just the thing for you.

Baker Days! With Baker Days you can create your own personal cake and get it delivered through your chosen letter box! What a great way to send a cake!

I think the best thing about Baker Days is with the personalised cakes you can make the ultimate gift that tastes delicious. As you can see from the picture below I got a cake with Paige on, I had to!! You can also pick from a great selection of designs. They start from just £14.99 with free UK delivery and the last order date for mothers day is march 7th.

Our cake was small but perfectly formed. I would say you get 4 portions out of the cake having a quarter slice each time. Perfect as a present for a special someone or perfect for a couple to share.

The cakes come lovely wrapped in a lemon tin which is perfect to use after. Two presents in one!

I tried the sponge cake although many others are available. It was everything you want out of a cake. Good to look at, yummy to eat, moist and soft. The icing was also good. The perfect amount to complement the sponge.

You can find Baker Days on facebook and twitter .

Baby Clothes Haul

With spring and summer just around the corner I thought it was time to start getting Paige's wardrobe in order. With a little trip to Mothercare and Next we are well on our way to a pretty spring/summer wardrobe for Paige :)

As you can see from Mothercare I got Paige 3 tshirts and a pair of leggings. The purple and the orange tops were 2 for £7 and the pink tshirt was just £2.50. The leggings were £3.50. Bargain!! Such lovely bright colours and cute designs. I can't wait until Paige wears them.

When I saw these first two tops I couldn't resist. I love buying Paige tops with mummy and daddy on and I couldn't buy one without the other! I loved them even more when I looked at the back especially the mummy on as it says that she is daddy's boss :) They have little rolled up sleeves, dipped hems and glitter writing! At £5 each I thought these were good value for money.

Next I saw these two tops. Cute, fun and perfect for spring/summer. At 2 for £8 you can't go wrong! They are going to look so cute with a pair of little leggings or shorts depending on the weather. These also have a slightly longer back and super cute designs which I love.

I particularly love Next clothing for Paige. They are well made and don't cost the earth. I may be eying up one of there dresses for her first birthday!!! :D

9 Months Old

9 months already!!!!!! Can anyone tell me when it slows down?

Lets get the worse thing out of the way.... Her sleeping is horrible. She is going through a developmental stage so her sleep is terrible, it always is with a leap! We are about half way through so hopefully it will start getting better soon. I feel like she wasn't this bad even as a newborn. She more often than not wakes up every hour until midnight then wakes at 2am and then 6/7am.

Paige is doing well with her eating. We found out she is allergic to eggs but other than that she is doing well. On more or less three meals a day now but her lunch is normally more of a snack to try and build her appetite up.

She is wearing mostly 9-12m clothes but does fit in some 12-18m clothes.

Says mama, dada, baba, gaga. She is always talking. She is still crawling well and goes very fast!! No idea how she crawls that fast. If a door is open a little she will crawl up too it and open it so she can get through! She is also standing on her own for up to a minute and loves walking pushing her walker she walks very well if you hold her hand and hardly holds on to be honest. I wonder when her first steps will be.

She is starting to give hugs which is so cute. She loves to sit on your lap and read stories. She plays peek a boo by herself. If you say no she shakes her head, if you say jump and dance she does! If you say come here she will :)

She is very alert, constantly watching and learning, she is very aware of things around her and gets cuter by the day!

Weaning - Eggs

For some reason I'd always put off giving Paige eggs, whether hard boiled or scrambled. That was until last Monday and boy do I regret giving them her now!!

Everything was fine. She was loving her hard boiled egg for lunch.

After about 20 minutes I noticed a rash around her mouth. This started to fade after an hour or so but came back as a very itchy rash all over her body. It was mostly on her belly and around her neck. She also had bright red ears and eyebrows. She went off her milk and was later sick twice. She was allergic!

I took her to the doctors just to make sure and they confirmed that it did look like a reaction. It is quite a common reaction in babies/small children and she could grow out of it by the time she is 5 but we will have to see.

As far as I know she is fine with foods that contain egg... I checked some of her baby food and sure enough some does have egg in it. She has eaten that and was fine. So for now we will stay away from boiled or scrambled eggs.

Does your child have an allergy to eggs? I'd love to know more details.

Nicola Xx

Review -

Every little girl needs a nappy cover, especially if it is this cute! These adorable little knickers are from Cotton Sparrow.
The knickers are well made and are cotton. They are elasticated for comfort and would go perfectly with any summer dress. The ones we were sent are called Bobby and are a lovely quirky design of black and white stripes. They also come in 7 different styles so I'm sure you will find a pair you love. They cost £6.50 which in my opinion is a little much but they are good quality and I'm sure you would get a lot of use out of them when the summer comes around.

They allowed Paige to move as normal as made her nappy look much cuter than normal. The front of the knickers wasn't very big and didn't quite cover Paige's nappy but I think this was mainly down to the size and they were a little tight on the legs too. But they are very cute!!

I love her chubby little legs!!

Paige's First Time On A Swing!

The other weekend we took Paige to the park. She has been many times before but this was a very special time. This time she would go on a swing all by herself and I'm pleased to say that she loved it.
It was also a lovely excuse for me to have a play around with my camera :)

She is a little dare devil and the faster she went the more she loved it!! I can't wait for the warmer weather to come... I can see us enjoying many lazy afternoons playing at the park.

Millie is TWO!!

I wrote a similar post this time last year, HERE. So much has happened in a year and I can't believe that Millie is now TWO!

My sweet little kitty is two today. We love her just as much and I know Paige loves her too. Just yesterday they were chasing each other around the sofa and Paige was giggling her head off. Whenever Paige is upset all I have to do is show her Millie and she is instantly cheered up. I'm sure as Paige grows up they will become better and better friends.

Paige Is Funny

I have had my camera for over a week now and have been using it whenever I get a chance. Paige loves to be in front of the camera but I thought it would be fun to show you all some pictures of when things don't exactly go to plan.

She is so funny :)

Moving House

During my life I have lived in 8 houses. That's on average a new house every 3 years!! I find that so crazy. Mark on the other hand has lived in 2. I feel like for some reason this is more acceptable. After all why would you want to move around. I don't feel like its fair on children to move them around that often. But that is all I've known.

We have lived in our current house for just over 2 years now and we are starting to think about moving into a new one. Our current house is a back to back with two good sized bedrooms and a little garden but I feel we are out growing it already. Once Paige is up and walking I know that it will defiantly feel like it is getting too small.

Our current house is rented but we would love to buy our own house. I've always dreamt about becoming a mummy and owning my own house. I have achieved one of my dreams by giving birth to Paige now for the next. The main reason for wanting to buy a house is to give Paige the security of living in one house for most of her life. I feel that this would be something special and something I didn't experience. Another reason is that if/when we decide to have another baby we will need the extra third bedroom that we don't currently have. Our family also all live quite far away so we need all the room we can for when they come and stay.

When looking in to buying a house a lot of things come into play... First up is thinking about what we want out of a new house and looking at mortgages. Ideally 3 bedrooms, just incase we do decide to give Paige a little brother or sister :) I'd love a big garden for Paige to run around in and for Millie to play in. We then have other things to think about... the area and the schools for when Paige is older.

I feel like choosing your long time family home is a big thing to do but I am very excited and can't wait.

Nicola Xx

Getting Paige To Nap In Her Cot

Paige is 8 and a half months old now and she still doesn't nap in her cot. At night she is so good at putting herself to sleep but for some reason hates napping in her cot.

I have decided that she is getting far too big to be napping on me so things are changing.

I made notes each day and thought I would record our progress over 5 days and hopefully help someone out!

Day 1
I changed paige's nappy, gave her a bottle which is refused to drink then set her down in her cot with her sea horse. She moaned a little then whined. After 5 minutes I went back in, laid her back down and tried her with her bottle again. Again she refused. She cried. I didn't leave her when she started to scream because she makes herself sick if she screams a lot, so I went in and rocked her. I laid her down and she cried again. Not as much so I walked out. She was still moaning so I went back in to find her asleep, I walked into the cot and woke her up (clever mummy!). She has the rest of bottle and falls asleep.
Time taken 30mins. Slept 1 and a half hours

Put her in cot. Moaning for about 10minutes. Asleep
Time taken 10mins. Slept 1 and a half hours

Day 2
We were out. Napped in her pram for 30mins.

Took 20mins to fall asleep. She moaned a little but I didn't go in. Slept 2 hours

Day 3
Put her down left her 5 mins. Gave her a little rock as she was screaming and put her back down. Asleep in 10mins. Slept for 1 hour 20 mins

I rock her a little put her down and asleep in 5 mins.

Day 4
Rocked a little. Asleep in 10mins but only for 40mins.

Rocked a little. No crying. Straight asleep. Slept for 1 and a half hours.

Day 5
Took 40mins to go to sleep. I feel like we have taken 5 steps backwards but I stuck with it and we got there in the end. Slept 1 and a half hours.

Took 10mins. Slept an hour.

I think everything has gone to plan this week. Some days Paige still takes about 20 minutes to go to sleep but others I put her down and she is asleep straight away. She mostly takes longer when her teeth are playing up. I find if I rock her a little until her eyes start to go I can lay her down and she falls straight asleep. I do the same thing each day for each nap. I change her nappy, put her in her sleeping bag. If she doesn't go to sleep in 10 minutes it either means she is hungry or her teeth hurt.

This was last week. So far this week she has been very good and has been asleep within 10 minutes each time I have out her down for a nap.

The days of her napping on me and pinning me to the sofa are long gone!! Apart of me is sad that she doesn't nap on me anymore but it is nice to have some mummy time while she naps.

Review - New York Bagel Co.

New York Bagel Co have released three new flavours!! Red onion and chive, Fruit and oat and limited edition blueberry.

Red onion and chive.
Mark offered to try these ones. He said they were gorgeous. They had a subtle flavour and weren't over powering. They had the same texture as a normal bagel with small bits of onion and chive. I did have a little taste and it wasn't my sort of thing but it wasn't horrible. I'm more of a sweet person.

Mark didn't like these ones even though he likes blueberries, he thought they were too sweet. I didn't mind it. I prefer it to the red onion and chive as it was sweeter. The blueberry pieces were big at times which I think put me off it a little bit.

Fruit and oat
Defiantly my favourite. Nice and fruity with oats on the outside. Paige also had a little taste and it was a big hit. Makes a change from normal plain bagels.

We would defiantly buy the red onion and chive and the fruit and oats ones. Well done New York Bagel Co!
