When Is The Right Time?

When is the right time to have another baby?

I love being a mummy so much and if we were blessed with another child I would be over the moon but when is the right time?
Paige - 1 day old!
If you have read my blog for a while you know that it's took us 16 long months to conceive Paige. In some ways we are very lucky and I understand that as sometimes people can't have children or need extra help. But those 16 months were hard.

Some people know they want babies close in age and that is fine but I think I'd like a couple of years between Paige and our next baby if we have one. That way I can enjoy Paige growing up a little more.

But apart of me thinks what if it takes us that long to conceive again or longer?!

I guess I'm a big believer in things happening for a reason. I honestly believe this and that is what kept me going through the 16 months we tried. So if we so have another baby it will happen when it happens I guess.

When did you feel the time was right or are you still waiting?

Review - Hevea Natural Panda Teether

Some babies find teething very difficult and very painful. Most love to chew on things to try ease the pain.

Paige is one of these babies.

The hevea natural teether is perfect for her to chew. It has textured sections, a unique design which features grooves and buds to help her gums and is an amazingly soft, strong natural rubber. My health visitor even commented on how good the rubber was!!

It is of course BPA, phthalate and PVC free. It can also be sterilized in boiling water to keep it nice and clean. It is suitable from birth and is the perfect size for little hands and mouths. It is £10 which I think is very reasonable and is available to buy HERE. £1 from every panda sold is also donated to WWF.

Paige loves this teether and loves chewing on it. She also loves to carry it in her mouth and crawl around with it! Strange child! She only has her two bottom teeth so far and I think her top ones will come in soon so this has been really helpful. It seems to help her and the amount of dribble she produces must mean she loves it!

10 Months Old

I feel like I've only just wrote Paige's 9 month update and here is her 10th already!!

Only 2 short months until she is 1 year old. Crazy!

This month she has come a long way. She took her first step at 9 months and 6 days old. Since then she has taken up to 6 in a row and will chose to walk over crawl sometimes. I wonder when she will be full on walking! She has learnt how to give cuddles and is starting to learn how to squat. She is trying so hard to stand up on her own and for now it looks like she is doing baby yoga. She also learnt how to climb the stairs... Time for the baby gates I think. She can also climb on to the sofa and catch a ball. She still only has two teeth.

Her eating has got a lot better. She now has 3 meals a day although the amount she eats varies and she has three 8oz bottles a day.

Her sleep is better but she still wakes up once a night for the most part. We did get one night when she slept through which was nice! First time is over 6 weeks.

She had her 9-12m check up with the health visitor which you can read HERE. This also contains her height and weight information.

Guest Post - Tips for keeping the kids occupied in the car

If you are tired of that familiar question: “Are we there, yet?” and the loud, impromptu and quite possibly out-of-tune family car sing-a-long, then fear no more.

Here are some handy hints and tips to help entertain your little ones while on the road:

Car games
We all know that technology has come a long way, with in-car DVD players, portable computer games and MP3 players for passengers
on even the shortest of journeys.

The mind wanders back to simpler days, where favourite pastimes during car journeys included a good old-fashioned game of 'I Spy'.
Let these classic car games inspire you to get creative. For example, you could put a new twist on 'I Spy' with a game of ‘I DON’T Spy’. This potentially hilarious game would involve guessing the random items in your family’s imagination, allowing everyone to engage their brain, not just their eyes.

Be sure to keep an abundance of different CDs in the car, or put together a road trip playlist before you set off. Playing a kid-friendly
audiobook is another great way to pass the time, and it might also stop arguments about what music you’re going to listen to.

Young explorers
Keep your young ones engaged by involving them with navigation and journey progression, showing them where you are on the map, or satellite navigation. Get them excited by showing them pictures and magazine articles of the place you are going to. Even better, get them involved before you go. Check out the
AA route planner together and plan the trip, including fun places to stop along the way.

In transit, have them keep a diary of what towns you’ve been through and any special landmarks they spotted along the way.
A child-friendly vehicle would not be complete without a few necessities: wet wipes, first aid box, water and some treats for
along the way. The fewer stops you have to make, the quicker you’ll reach your destination. Make sure to stock up for a happy, relaxing trip.

Be prepared

Before you set off, it’s important that the more serious motor matters are taken care of. Do you have car insurance cover, road tax, breakdown cover and MOT in check and up-to-date before you hit the road? Be prepared and enjoy the trip.

Paige's 9-12m Check Up

Today we had Paige's 9-12m check up. I was a little nervous to be honest. Like every mum I want to make sure my baby is developing well. I was also very excited. I couldn't wait to see how much she weighed as we haven't had her properly weighed for a good few months.

The health visitor was very pleased and said that her development is beyond what they expect at this age. She was very happy to see her crawling, pulling up and taking steps. Her hips are perfect and all her measurements were spot on.

Now Paige has always been a big baby. Big in every sense... Length, weight and head circumference. And she still continues to be the same way. I have no idea where she gets it from!

So for the numbers....

My big girl weighs in at 23lb 13oz!!!
She is at least 75cm but she was laid in a banana like fashion so is easily 76/77cm. But the health visitor didn't want to stress Paige out and try to measure her again.
Her head circumference measures in at 47cm.

She's a big girl. She is on the 98th percentile for everything but perfect in everyway. She has always been on this percentile and is just growing well.

We also got given a book start pack, tooth brush and tooth paste, sippy cup. Always nice to get free stuff :)

My First Mothers Day

Today is my first mothers day and I'm still laid in bed. I've been told I'm not allowed out yet and have to rest and relax.

Of course what do I do.... Blog!

I love been a mummy so much and wouldn't change it for the world. I feel so lucky to be woken in the night, to hear that cry for help because my baby needs me. Through the good times and bad I'm so happy and thankful that I have Paige.

Today started off well, a nice lie in although this does happen every Sunday. This was followed by breakfast in bed, a lovely bacon sandwich and a cup of tea. Next up was presents!! I got the most amazing gifts, all Paige's ideas so I'm told. And Millie picked the chocolates!!

We then spent the day playing and relaxing as a family. Mark is currently making dinner, my favourite, beef casserole. Tonight when Paige goes to bed we plan on watching a girly film and relaxing on the sofa.

I've had the most wonderful day all thanks to the people that mean most to me.

Happy Mothers Day!!
