As soon as Paige took her first steps I always wondered how long it would be before she was full on walking. And by full on walking I mean walking more than crawling. I did some research online and got a wide range of answers. Obviously every child is difference and all develop at their own speeds so there will be a wide range.
Paige took her first steps at just over 9 months old. See her first steps HERE. She started walking more than crawling at just over 11 months old. So for her it took her about 2 months. Now at 11 and a half months she walks everywhere. She probably only crawls about once or twice a day. Its still so strange to see her walking everywhere like a little toddler. She has also mastered bending down to pick things up from the floor and standing back up without pulling up.
I think it was mainly a confidence thing. She was perfectly capable of taking steps but she either didn't have the confidence or just didn't want to walk. Crawling was something she could do quickly and get where she wanted to go easily.
It's so amazing seeing the transition from crawling to walking. To see the pride and joy in her face as she realised what she was doing. And to experience my own pride and joy in seeing her develop. There were tears from me. Tears of realization that my baby is no longer a baby.
How did you feel when your baby started walking?
