The Snow is Coming*

The snow is defiantly coming. It was meant to snow on our wedding day and did actually snow a tiny bit the day before. I would of loved a white wedding but it wasn't meant to be and we had beautiful sunshine instead, which I am thankful for.

I am now hoping for a white Christmas. I don't think it will happen but each year I hope and each year I am sadly disappointed. It has to happen one year surely! I don't remember the last white Christmas. Maybe it was that long ago or maybe my memory is rubbish. I'm going for the second one!

We always seem to get snow in February time, which is nice but it isn't Christmas day is it?! This February was fabulous. I remember dressing Paige up in her snowsuit and sitting her in the snow. She was only around 9 months old so didn't understand. I'm not even sure she will understand when we next get snow but I know she will love it all the same. I guess it all depends when it actually comes

I can't wait to see her running around in the snow with her little welly boots on. She doesn't actually own a pair of wellies yet but I have been looking on Wellytique and they do a great range for adults and children. I'm not sure how Paige will react to having such heavy boots on but I guess we will find out once the snow comes.

Come on snow!!!!

18 Months Old

1 and a half years old!

How did that happen? I'm sure it only seemed like her birthday a couple of weeks ago. It's crazy how fast the time goes when you have a child.

Paige now weighs over 28lbs and has moved up to size 4+ nappies. Her others started leaking through the night so it was defiantly time to move up.

This month she has learnt to fake sneeze. No idea where she has picked up on it but it is the cutest thing ever and is now her new party trick. She also tries to sing row row row your boat. That has to be her favourite nursery rhyme and she loves acting it out while sat on our knee. She is also trying to say a lot more words. If you say a word to her she will have a go at saying it but doesn't quite manage. She has said three more words this month which are two, three and six. She loves trying to count.

Paige very much loves to dress and un dress herself now. She puts her hat, gloves and coat on and tries to put her shoes on and wants to go outside. She loves playing outside but also likes to wear her outdoor clothes inside and has spent many hours wearing her hat inside.

She is cutting her 12th tooth and will then finally be equal on her top and bottom jaws with just her vampire teeth (as I like to call them) to come in.

She is doing really well with her eating still and  from talking to other mums a lot better than other toddlers her age. She will try more or less everything you put in front of her but still has her favourites which are pasta dishes and chicken!

One of the best things this month has to be the cuddles. She has given kisses for a while but now will give cuddles when you ask her, proper little cuddles.

Mummy is late with this post and has only included one picture. Naughty mummy!

As you can see from mine I had to get a picture of Paige on the front to match my blog header :)

My little Artist*

As Paige has become older her artistic and creative side has started to show more and more as the weeks pass by. Not only has she become almost professional in the art of tower building, she has started compiling some great little pieces of work using her toys and various household objects.

Just the other day Paige was sat quietly building a tower from everything except her building blocks. It all started with a saucepan with a caterpillar strategically placed on top! She also tends to arrange a few toys on her changing mat until she is happy with there positioning and then smiles at them.

We always try to encourage her creative side and she absolutely loves to draw. Colouring books have taken a back seat to plain paper at the moment, but Paige seems to know what she likes to do.

Both Mark and myself were encouraged to be creative as children and this is possibly part of the reason we encourage it so much with Paige.

We just hope that Paige continues to follow her some what obvious artistic side. And who knows, one day she may produce an example of installation art good enough to be exhibited! But until that day comes we are more than happy to let Paige use our front room as her little studio, even if it does require a lot of tidying up!

Is Paige Named After A Teddy?*

When Paige was born we wanted to buy her something that she could keep forever. Something that was special to her. That she knew was from her mummy and daddy.

On our hunt for this something special we looked online first to try and find something that could be that special. The task wasn't easy. We wanted something that would keep forever and maybe one day, go up in value a little bit. I'm not talking about thousands of pounds but surely any added value on something has to be a good thing.

Me and Mark both know next to nothing about Antique Valuations and that wasn't at the forefront of our minds when picking Paige's special gift but to some people it is important. I Value My Stuff quite highly and they do mean a lot to me emotionally more than in value. Value My Stuff  appear to offer a user friendly service. They have a team of experts and value items, from old coins and wine to art, before selling or buying. A useful way to cash in on your unwanted items. I know Mark has some old coins upstairs that could do with been valued. They also featured on Dragons Den and received 100K funding – do you remember them?

I hope that when Paige gets older she will appreciate the time and effort that me and Mark went to, to pick her the perfect gift. I hope like me she will treasure it even if it doesn't increase in value.

So what is this mystery object...

Well she is cute, furry and also happens to be called Paige. Coincidence, I think not!

A teddy!

Growing up I always had a teddy that I kept from birth. I loved having her around and growing up with her. Paige loves teddies so it seems our gift was perfect for her. I love that the teddy is called Paige and no we didn't name her after it, that's another story.

Five Gift Experiences for the Lady in your Life*

With Christmas on the horizon, now is a perfect time to start thinking about unforgettable gifts that your other half will love. With a couple more paydays before the big day, there’s plenty of time to plan the perfect present and, while she may have some ideas of her own, being surprised by a memorable gift experience will be the icing on the Christmas cake.
A Luxury Spa Day
Who wouldn’t love to be pampered in a luxury setting? If she doesn’t have one already, pick up a bikini or tankini from George at ASDA as a little hint of what’s in store and book a fantastic day where she can relax, unwind and feel truly treated. A tankini or bikini would be ideal so that, if you choose to add a treatment or a steam room visit to the package, she will be ready for anything
Fancy a weekend away together? Choose one of the fabulous hotel spas in the middle of rural England, where you can stay in a luxurious hotel, enjoy some fine dining and quality wines and also treat yourselves to some all-out pampering. She’ll love the romantic gesture and it will be a perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together.
Paris by Night
Is there anything more romantic than a night in one of the most amorous cities in the world? Organise a night or two away in the French capital and treat your spouse to an unforgettable evening.
Pack your overnight bag with some warm layers from George at ASDA so that you can keep the winter chill at bay and plan an itinerary that your other half will adore.
Afternoon Tea
This quintessential British tradition is all the rage at the moment, having made a massive comeback over recent years. While the local tearooms may be a regular haunt for your other half, booking an afternoon sampling luxury finger sandwiches, savoury treats and sweet delights at Harrods or the Ritz in London will give her some well-deserved exuberance.
A Trip to the West End
Is there a play or a musical that she’s been nagging you about for months? Christmas would be a perfect excuse to book those seats so that she can enjoy the magic of the theatre with you. The earlier you book, the better choice of seats you will have.
Book an evening meal at one of the London high-brow restaurants to add to the experience.
Wine Tasting
Head for the rural pastures of England and treat your lady to an afternoon of wine tasting at one of the local wineries. Learn more about the various grape varieties and enjoy a tipple as you go.
Choose an experience that includes a sumptuous lunch to extend the afternoon a little more.
We all love mounds of neatly wrapped presents under the tree but for something truly special, choose a gift that the lady in your life will treasure – real experiences with memories to last a lifetime are the way forward!

My Hen Do - Part 2

If you haven't seen PART 1 then do check it out.

Like the first part I had no idea what was planned, everything was a surprise. All I was told was that I need some black heels and a black bag.

The day arrived and I excitedly met Kerry and Lotte from the train station after they had each traveled a long way just to see me and Paige too of course! I was so happy that they came and that they finally got to meet Paige. From the moment they arrived to when they left we laughed none stop, so much so that we only got 4 hours sleep that night.

The time came to get ready to go out. The theme was then revealed to me.... The Pink Ladies from Grease! I'm not a huge Grease fan but I do love me some pink so the theme fit perfectly. We wore black leggings, a black vest, the pink lady jacket, a pink neckerchief and a sash. I also had a bride to be tiara, a flashing badge, a balloon and a blow up man!

I thought i'd feel a bit silly dressed up but as it was so close to Halloween a lot of people were dressed up so I didn't feel very silly at all.

We got ready and headed out. We first went to my favourite restaurant, Frankie & Benny's. It was amazing. All the staff were amazing, my personal highlight, apart from the food, was when they started playing the congratulations music. If you have ever been to Frankie & Bennys you will understand what I mean. For birthdays they play special music and have everyone sing to you and then bring you desert or cake usually. When the music started I honestly thought that was happening so me being me started dancing along to the music and looking to see whose birthday it was... turns out it was for me. Everyone at the table was totally shocked including me when the staff brought over a huge bunch of flowers. It was so sweet of them but yes, I felt very silly afterwards!

After eating, talking, laughing, playing games and probably making too much noise we left the restaurant and headed into town for a couple of drinks. I'm not a big drinker and never have been so we only had a few but lots of dancing was included as well which is right up my street.

We then went to mine and sat up talking until the very early hours. The next morning was spent chatting some more and just generally having a laugh. It's so strange to think that this was actually only the second time i've met Kerry and Lotte. It honestly feels like i've known them forever.

It rained the entire night and was freezing cold but none of that really matters when you have such good company. Altogether there were 7 of us who went. I've only included pictures of me, Kerry and Lotte because the others didn't really want their pictures all over the internet!

So I'll leave you with a few pictures :)

On The Cold Front*

This week Paige has caught her third cold. As a parent it's awful to see your child ill. You always feel helpless and wonder what you can do to help them.

We tend to only give Paige medicine if she is really sick and/or seems to be really struggling. I'm a big believer in letting your body fight the illness itself, especially if it's just a common cold. I think children need to build up their immune systems.

Poorly Princess
Maybe this rubs off from the fact that when me and Mark are ill we never really take medicine unless we are really struggling. And of course when I was pregnant I was very restricted as to what medicine I could take.

Of course with babies and pregnant ladies you have to very careful because a common cold can lead to other more serious illnesses quickly so please do take advice from the NHS

But we always keep some general medicine around the house just in case. Pharmacy at hand is a great place to pick these up. We have a medicine cupboard which is out of reach of Paige and contains mostly products aimed at Paige including the must have items such as Nurofen and Vapor rub. At the moment we still find it much easier to give Paige medicine using a syringe but we have tried the spilly spoon before.

Now it's coming up to that time of year, what medicine essentials do you keep around the house?

Review - Winter Warmer Grobag

Paige has slept in a sleeping bag since she was 3 months old and transitioned into her cot bed. Along with being safe it's also very practical. It keeps Paige warm at all times and I think it helps her to feel safe.

When she was a newborn she loved to be swaddled but as she got older this wasn't the most practical thing.

The Gro Store are very famous for their Grobags as well as other fabulous products too. If you don't already know, Grobags are basically a sleeping bag for your little one. They lay inside with their arms outside.

Paige was kindly sent the winter warmer grobag to try out. With a super snugly 3.5 Tog the Winter Warmer Grobag is the perfect choice for keeping your little one warm in cold winter temperatures. It is the softest thing I have ever felt and remains soft after washing. It also drys surprisingly very quickly. I thought that because it is lovely and thick it would take forever to dry and as we don't have a tumble dryer I though it would be a problem. But to my surprise it drys quite quickly. It can also be popped in a tumble dryer if you have one on a low heat.

It is white with gorgeous little penguin design and is gender neutral so could be used for both boys and girls. It is available in sizes 0-6 months, 6-18 months and 18-36 months. Paige was sent the 18-36 months because she is coming up to 18 months but is already the size of a 2 year old. She still has room to grow into the Grobag but it isn't too huge that she feels lost in it.

The Grobag fastenes with a zip down the side and poppers over the shoulders. This makes is easy to get Paige in and out of it although she is very happy in it. It is of course British Standard approved.

I think the Winter Warmer Grobag is such a great product, we love it. Perfect for the cold winter nights we get in England. The quality is amazing and at £39.99 for the 18-36 months size it is great value for money. You could use it for two winters and then any future children.

Have you tried a Grobag?

The Important Things At Christmas*

I love buying Paige presents. I would go mad if Mark let me and we could afford. Of course I try to buy her as much as we can but at the same time I want her to appreciate the gifts she gets and really know who and where they came from. As she gets older this will be easier.

As a child I was never the one who got gift upon gift but I didn't mind. I knew that my mum had put plenty of thought into each gift and I was always super happy with each one, even if my brother used to break every single one! I used to have friends who each Christmas would get literally tons of presents but it didn't bother me.

To me that isn't the reason for Christmas. Yes, buy your loved ones something special from an internet gift store but don't spoil them in a way that they don't appreciate the smaller things in life. To me the reason for Christmas is family. At Christmas most families gather together to spend time with each other and enjoy the company of people they may only see a few times a year.

I think that having children really brings home the meaning of family and the importance it has. Last Christmas was probably the best I've ever had. Our first one as a family, me, Mark and Paige. We woke at 5am, had presents opened by 5:30am and ended up going back to bed at 9am for a couple of hours because we were so tired. Paige was ill with her first cold but it didn't matter one bit because....

We were together.

November Is A Big Month

November is going to be a BIG month for us. Paige turns 18 months old, I have my hen do and me and Mark get married.

I never thought when she was born that 18 months down the line we would be getting married. We had been engaged for over 5 years but we never really saved very much for the wedding hence things are on a tight budget. One thing we did agree on was that we wanted to get married before Paige was 2. As the months went on and she turned 1 I began to felt like it needed to be done sooner, I wanted to be a family, to have the same last name and to have that bond with Mark.

That's how plans got moved forward and how we ended up only having around 16 weeks to plan the wedding. Things are coming together and I am so excited. It still doesn't feel real but I am loving the fact that I can now say we are getting married this month!!

First up is my hen do, which is TOMORROW!!!
