Is your child ready for the cinema?

You as a parent know if your child is ready for certain situations. Be that going bowling, sleeping over at a friends house or going to the cinema. Recently I've being thinking about taking Paige to the cinema. I wanted to do something special just for the two of us so we could have a little mummy and daughter time. But something stopped me. I'm not quite sure if Paige is quite ready.

Mummy and Daughter

Some signs that your child is ready are..

*That they can sit through a film at home
*They can concentrate enough on the film and be quiet
*That they won't be scared by the darkened room and loud noises

If your child is ready some tips are..

*Sit near the exit- just incase you need to leave
*Pick child friendly movies and times- so they are entertained and not over tired
*Sweet treats- I know that Paige would sit for longer if she had a little movie treat to eat.
*Don't sit down for the film too early- children could get bored before the film even starts

Cineworld run special movies for juniors. These are normally on a Saturday/Sunday morning and tickets start at £1.50!

At 2 year old Paige definitely isn't quite ready yet. We have trouble with her sitting still and quiet at home never mind in a strange environment. I can't wait to take her when she is a little older. I personally think that 3 years old will be the perfect age for Paige but all children are different. The typical age is between 2-4 years old.

Trust your instincts as a parent, try and stay calm and relaxed as children tend to pick up on your feelings. Above all make in an enjoyable experience and enjoy doing something special with your child.

I'm so excited for our first cinema experience and I will of course be blogging about it!

How old was your child when they first went to the cinema?

Thanks for reading,

Nicola Xx
