Siblings - October

This past month was probably our hardest month so far. Having two children is hard work. Paige is firmly in the terrible twos and her favourite thing to do is ignore every word I say. Parker's sleep is really bad. Last night we were up every hour but on average we are up between 3 and 6 times with him. It's hard wok when you have an energetic toddler to look after during the day as well.

I kind of feel like this months picture represents our hard month. It wasn't intentional but I kind of love it all the same.

Just as I took the picture Parker decided to pull Paige's hair. He then smiled like a cheeky little boy as if he knew exactly what he had done. You can see the start of his cheeky smile on his face. Of course at only nearly 4 months old he had no idea what he was doing but it has given me a peak into the future.

Having siblings isn't all smiles and playing together. They will argue and may hate each other at times but at the end of the day a bond that strong never goes away. Moments after this picture all was forgotten and Paige was helping Parker to play with his toys. I'm sure in years to come Paige will get her own back :P

Thanks for reading,

Nicola Xx

PS: Paige was absolutely fine :)

  1. Oh yes we have had quite a few moments like that too! I do love his cheeky little smile. Adjusting to two is quite a challenge - especially when you're very sleep-deprived as well. Hope Parker starts sleeping a little more and things get easier.

  2. That's just part and parcel of having siblings. One minute they love each other, the next you are hiding somewhere whilst they argue. Cute photo.

  3. Your month sounds like our whole first 6 months of having 2. It got easier for us when T started weaning and would sit happily in his high chair, before that I found it really difficult. Hoping your bad month was a one off and the next month will be lovely x

  4. Aww I love his cheeky smile! For what it's worth I found the jump from 1-2 harder than adjusting to being a parent for the first time, and harder than the recent jump from 2-3 but you do find a rhythm after a while, and the baby gets bigger and a bit more robust and then it becomes just normal life; I hope you start to get a little more sleep soon and that the path evens out :)

  5. That photo definitely captures a proper sibling moment, it really made me smile, even though Paige looks so sad, because Parker looks so cheeky. It's definitely tough at times with two, I know I found between 3 and 6 months especially tricky because I just felt so permanently exhausted, and the novelty has generally worn off for everyone a bit by that point too. But it gets easier hun, I promise. x

  6. Parker looks so cheeky and well done to you lovely for being honest. Being a parent, especially to more than one, can be hard work at times. It isn't always gorgeous photography and happy times and so it;s good to share every now and again. Hope it improves for you soon. x

  7. What a great capture, and totally sums up what having a sibling is all about. Having two really is a shock to the system. I thought I was tired with one! They tell you to sleep when the baby sleeps not possible with another little one running about. That comment had me laughing for quite a few days. We are a month behind you with Little E, people keep telling me it will get easier but then they said that about Ethan!!

  8. Having two children really is hard work but there is always that one moment in the day when I see them do something lovely to each other and it makes it all worth it. Cherry started the terrible two's / three's when Tiger was a similar age, she's still doesn't do anything I say now, it's so frustrating, I'm hoping 4 will be easier! x
