Me and Mine - June

We now have a three year old and a one year old. I still can't believe that Parker is one and Paige is three. Time really does pass far too quickly.

This month was quite a busy one for us as a family. We've had a welcome evening with Paige's new nursery ready for September., we'd had lovely days in the garden, days out, Parker's birthday, a little holiday and Parker is now walking full time.

This months pictures were taken on holiday. We tried to do something different each day to make the most of our time. On this particular day we spend the day at the farm. We saw pigs, cows, goats, rabbits, donkeys, ducks, sheep, alpacas and emus. We had such a lovely day. Paige really enjoyed herself and Parker loved the goats. It was also lovely and sunny and really warm which was a huge bonus. There was also a sandpit area and a huge bouncy pillow, so much fun!

Its is so hard getting a selfie type picture when there's four people to fit in the picture but I think Mark did a good job. I love these pictures, they remind me of a lovely day and what fun we had together as a family.

Pink Lining Notting Hill Tote and My Essential Changing Bag Items

Changing bags are an essential item for a lot of mums. They are practical, useful and hold pretty much everything we could ever need. Pink Lining have a hug range of gorgeous changing bags, there really is something to suit all tastes. There are some gorgeous prints and patterns, one of my favourites is the Cottage Garden print. This print is perfect for summer and I just knew that I needed a bag with the print on.
I already have an old style Pink Lining bag and love it so much. I first got it when Paige was a toddler and it still looks as good as new now through lots of wear. This time I choose the Notting Hill Tote and I am in love.
The bag itself is the perfect size for a changing bag. It has plenty of pockets and compartments for nappies and creams and even includes two bottle bags in case you are a bottle feeding mummy. There is a lovely padded changing mat and a wet zip bag. There's a key fob to put your keys so you're never stuck outside with a screaming baby/toddler while franticly searching through your bag to find your keys. It also includes a mirror, phone pocket and very handy stroller straps so you can easily attach the bag to the pram or stroller. A very useful feature that keeps your bag within easy reach.
The print is my favourite part. It is gorgeous, bright and so summery but isn't too over powering or in your face. Its just perfect. With flowers, butterflies and dragonflies this bag will look great wherever you choose to carry it. I've taken it to the supermarket, on days out and to the beach.
In the early days of having children I used to struggle with what to pack. Now I feel like I just carry essentials and I'm pretty good at getting my changing bag packed quickly with everything we need. My essentials consist of my planner, my purse, nappies, wipes, sun cream, a bottle, snacks and crayons.
I like to keep my on the go planner in my changing bag as it has all our appointments and important dates in. It also has shopping lists of things I need to pick up so I don't forget anything.
My purse is always kept inside so I don't lose it. I also love how well it matches the bag.
Snacks and crayons are to keep the children busy if I need to occupy them for a few minutes. Nappies, wipes and a bottle are all very essential items along with sun cream in this gorgeous weather we are currently having.

What can't you leave the house without?

DIY Baby Bouquet

If you are looking for a personal, unique gift for a mum to be or a new mum look no further. When I was pregnant with Paige I was lucky enough to receive a gorgeous nappy cake as a gift. While I love the look of nappy cakes they can be very expensive to make, lets face it nappies cost quite a bit. A baby bouquet is just as much of a lovely gift but is cheaper to make and super easy too.

All you need is some baby clothes, stems (flower sticks or barbeque skewers), florist tape, scissors, elastic bands, some fake or real leaves and tissue paper.

First you need to fold your items of clothes into strips, any clothes work well. I used a M&S newborn starter set plus a pair of socks. By having different  sized items of clothes the bouquet will have a lovely variety of flowers. Bibs were my favourite to fold as they were super easy and look really good as flowers.

Then simply wrap your items of clothes around your stems (I used barbeque skewers) and secure them with an elastic band to keep them in place.

You can then add leaves (I used real ones from our garden but fake ones would work too). You simply place them under the elastic band to secure them into place. You could also add real/fake flowers too.

Next wrap florist tape around the elastic band and down onto the stem to further secure and finish the flower.

Once you have done all your items of clothing you can wrap them in paper tissue to finish the bouquet off. Personally I found this part the hardest, I used elastic bands to secure them and then tied a pretty ribbon around to hide the elastic bands.

If you'd like to have a go why not check out the guide to making a baby bouquet.

I really enjoyed making the baby bouquet and I would of loved to receive one as a new mum. They make a really lovely and useful gift but also look great.
Have you ever received a baby bouquet as a gift?

Mummy and Me - June

Yet another month has passed. This month saw Parker turning one. I still find it hard to believe that he is one year old. It feels like yesterday that he was a tiny newborn.

This month has provided lots of fun and laughter. We've had cake, played outside a lot, had some lovely day trips out and even a little holiday.

I really do love being a mum. It's something that I always wanted as I grew up and I am so lucky that I have two gorgeous babies.

This month I've found myself thinking about getting a full time job. I've found myself longing for something extra. I don't know if it's because Parker is that little bit older but I feel like I'm not needed as much. I feel like I could be doing so much more. I think of myself as being very lucky by being a stay at home mum but people don't always realise that it can be hard. I am really lucky that both Paige and Parker are really easy going and really easy children. It's more a battle with myself, keeping my brain functioning and keeping myself busy.

Until I figure it out I'm going to soak up every second with my babies because I have no idea what the future holds.

This month I have three different pictures! I love each one for a different reason. They are all from our recent holiday. The first I am holding Parker on his first ride with Paige riding along too. The second is from Parker's first birthday. He wanted nothing to do with his cake and I even had to bribe him with a bit of cake while we sang happy birthday, so Paige blew his candle out and loved it. The last is on a giant bouncy pillow. Paige asked Parker to come on with me and her so he did :)

Parker's Smash Cake

For Paige's first birthday we did a DIY smashcake photoshoot. Hers didn't exactly turn out as planned and you can see that here. For Parkers first birthday I wanted to do the same and hoped that he would play along more than Paige did.
Luckily for me, he did!
Paige of course helped.

Almost ONE!

I was sat on the sofa eating McDonalds. My due date was 12 days away. I didn't expect my waters to break but it did. Just over six hours later and our precious baby boy was in my arms.

That still feels like yesterday and I can hardy believe that our little boy turns one tomorrow.

It's true what they say... your second born really does grow up so much quicker. They seem to always want to catch up to their older sibling. Life is so much more hectic with two than one so time somehow slips away. I feel like I blinked and my tiny new born grew into an almost walking toddler over night.

Before Parker was born I couldn't imagine loving someone else as much as I loved Paige. As soon as I set my eyes on him I loved them both equally. The love doesn't half for your older child, it grows.

Now, I couldn't imagine a world without him. He is so special to all of us. He really is a joy to be around and watching him and Paige interact makes my heart want to explode, as cheesy as that sounds its true.

So tomorrow we celebrate Parker turning one. I'm pretty sure Paige will help him open his presents and I may have a little cry but I will try soak in as much of that day as possible because our little boy is growing up.

My Favourite Green Smoothie

Don't get me wrong I'm no expert when it comes to green smoothies or any smoothie in general but I enjoy making them and they taste super yummy.

We first got a blender a few months ago as an attempt to be healthier. It took a while to properly get into but now I try and have a smoothie at least 3 times a week. I aim for every morning Monday-Friday. Green smoothies are my favourite, mainly because I feel like they make the most difference to my diet. I can eat fruit for days but green leafy vegetables are a little harder for me so a boost in the morning of a green smoothie is a big hit.

I wanted to start of lightly when I first started so id start with a fruit smoothie and just add a small amount of kale or spinach. Over time I gradually added more and more. My favourite green to add is spinach so now I mostly have spinach.

My favourite smoothie is spinach, banana and melon. A big handful of spinach, a few chunks of banana and a few chunks od melon. I freeze our bananas and melon to make them last longer. That way they act as ace cubes too and make the smoothie so cold. I then add water or orange juice, I'm not very strict and will add a bit of orange juice if I fancy it.

You then blend for a couple of minutes and that is it. Easy and takes about 3 minutes to make.

You can't even taste the greens in it. Paige and Parker will also have bits, a great way to get hidden vegetables into their diets too.

Do you make smoothies?

Siblings - June

My 3 year old and almost 1 year old...
This past month has seen Paige turn 3 and Parker is growing up so quickly. His first birthday is 8 days away, 8! I still can't believe it.
This past month we've spent quite a lot of time outside in the garden. Both Paige and Parker absolutely love it outside. They love chasing each other, playing with each other, having picnics and of course walking together. Parker isn't yet walking on his own, he can take 3 steps at a time and balance for however long he wants but he just doesn't have any real desire to fully walk. He will only do it when he wants to, he doesn't perform. He will choose to walk over crawling now and frequently misses out the corner of the sofa and walks instead of cruising but that's it.
I love these months pictures. Paige wants Parker to walk full time so badly. She can't wait to run around outside with him. She does love to help him walk and will hold his hands even when he doesn't want her to, another reason why I think he isn't walking yet, Paige helps him too much. In a loving sister way of course.
When Parker does decide he wants to walk full time I will cherish these pictures even more. In only a matter of weeks/months Parker won't need Paige's help anymore. He won't need to lean on her. He won't need her support. Instead he will be running after her.

Next month will be a whole year since I first joined in with the sibling linky. This time last year they hadn't even met...
