Me and Mine - January 2017

I can't believe that January is almost already over. To be honest I'm excited for the rest of the year but I know that February will fly by even faster and I'm just not quite ready for that.
January was a good month for us. We celebrated marks birthday and have had some lovely family days together. The kids when back to nursery and school and we were able to get back into routine. Me and mark got matching fitbits because we are that cool! It's really fun challenging each other though and keeping each other motivated. The fitness mission is going well.
In February Harleigh will turn 3 months old. I'm so not ready for her to grow up and it's happening so quickly. I am ready to get winter over and done with and can't wait for the spring weather to come. I am looking forward to slightly warmer weather and more family days out!

Mummy and Me - January

The first month of 2017. My second full month of having three children. I am still loving it!

This month Harleigh has changed and grown so much. The newborn stage is very much over. She is so alert and so active and awake a lot. Paige and Parker still cant wait until she can properly play with them and I think she is quite eager to join in too. She constantly watches them and gives them huge smiles.

We haven't done too much this month. The big two went back to school and nursery and that meant that I've had some more one on one time with Harleigh which is lovely.

Our pictures this month were put to the side, I left it until the last minute. With getting back into our routine and me trying to get fitter we were pretty busy this month.

The kids didn't want to sit and pose so we had some fun, made silly faces and just giggled, a lot! Harleigh was asleep in the first pictures too.

I'm really excited to see where 2017 takes us, to see how this mummy and me journey progresses over the year. To see how the kids and me change as we live this crazy life together, and Mark!

2 Months Postpartum - Baby #3

Last week I had my 6-8 week check up. To be honest I'm always a little disappointed, they never do anything and just ask a few questions.

Everything is going well. I am back to normal and have for a while. Of course I'm tired but I have three children so that's pretty much guaranteed.

As for weight loss and I'm a little disappointed to be honest. At 6 weeks postpartum I started watching my eating and working out. Now almost 3 weeks later I've lost 1lb, that's it! I have lost a few inches around my belly and waist. I'm 13lb heavier than pre pregnancy and although I am starting to fit into my pre pregnancy jeans I would like to lose a little more weight. I am trying really hard to not focus on the weight and to focus on how my clothes fit and getting fitter but sometimes it's hard to get that figure out of my head. With Paige it took me about 8/9 months to lose the baby weight, with Parker it happened so much quicker at 3/4 months. I'm wondering if my body just doesn't react well to losing weight after having a girl.

I'm trying to make more time for myself and feel like the working out is helping with that so that's also making me feel good.

My skin is all over the place. These hormones have a lot of answer for. My period returned at 6 weeks and I can't wait for it to regulate out again, fingers crossed it does. The doctor did tell me to go back in a month or so if it hadn't.
How did you feel at 2 months postpartum?

Review - Milestone cards

I love cherishing and documenting baby developments and milestones. Newborns grow so quickly that they pass by in the blink of a eye. One lovely way to keep record is by using Milestone cards.

They are a super cute set of colourful cards which are there to help you record special events. Weeks and months, first smiles, sitting, eating, standing and the first birthday.
Each card is really cute and colourful. They also have the space for the date so you can remember the exact date.
I have loved using the with Harleigh so far and can't wait to use up a few in the coming weeks and months.

The cards also make a lovely baby shower gift or new baby present. Something a little different that the parents will love.
Have you used Milestone cards?

Harleigh - 2 Months Old

I'm not quite sure how but Harleigh is already 2 months old. Its very scary just how quickly that time is passing.

She isn't a newborn at all anymore. She is so alert and is awake so much during the day now. She is so strong and has great head control.

She smiles all the time in response to us. It is so lovely. Paige and Parker love seeing her smile and trying to get her to smile. You can already see just how much she loves them both already! She has started trying to giggle and we've had a couple out of it, possibly the cutest thing.

She is in 0-3 months clothes and weighs 11lb 4oz. She had her 6-8 week check up and everything is perfect. She also got her first set of injections and got an awful fever but that cleared after about 36 hours. She is drinking 5oz bottles and taking around 4 naps a day. At night she is sleeping 4-6 hour stretch to start and then 2-4 hour stretches.

She loves shadows and patterns. Is so ticklish and loves to be sat up looking around. She isn't a huge fan of tummy time but has started trying to roll over, crazy to think that at 8 weeks old Parker was already rolling over.

She has fitted in so perfectly.

Review - Cocoonababy

Figuring out where your new baby is going to sleep can take a lot of thought. It can be hard to know what option to go with. There are so many different products on the market that claim to be the best for sleep, it can be hard to pick one.

Inside the womb babies are so cosy and held tightly by your body 24 hours a day. They are rocked to sleep with your movement and going from that to the outside world is a huge step. They need to feel safe and secure and the Cocoonababy does exactly that. It was specially designed to provide your baby with a comforting, reassuring, womb-like space to sleep in. The semi-foetal, gently curved position helps reassure baby and encourages peaceful sleep. It also improves the quality and length of sleep, reduces waking with the Moro reflex, limits reflux problems and minimizes the risk of a flat head. The Cocoonababy also includes a tummy band which holds baby securely but still allows them to move their arms and legs. It also has a removable wedge to help position baby in the semi-foetal position.

The Caooonababy is essentially a giant cushion for your baby to sleep on. It is thick and firm but soft enough to ensure that baby is comfortable.

Harleigh has used the Cocoonababy from birth and loves it. We love it too. She is very happy sleeping in it and I feel confident knowing that it is nice and safe for her. It is to be used inside the cot (on the lowest setting) or on the floor. It can be used from 6lb 2.6oz until 3-4 months when baby starts to roll over and change position while sleeping.

The covers are easily removed and washable, they can't go in the tumble dryer but don't take long to dry.

I love that you can adjust the wedge under the covers to grow with your baby.

We love the Cocoonababy and can't fault it. Harleigh looks comfortable, cosy and really calm. We can't recommend it enough and would consider it a newborn must have!
Would you consider trying the Cocoonababy?

Harleigh - 6 Weeks Old

Not much has changed with Harleigh this week.

She is getting really chunky now, you should see her thighs! She is still in size 2 nappies and 0-3 month clothes.

She is smiling more and is more alert during the day. We've had some good sleep this week. When we've put her down she's slept between 4-5 hours, one night it was almost 6!

She is on 5oz bottles now and will eat every 2-4 hours. She usually stocks up a little before bedtime which is why she is sleeping so well in that first stretch. After that she is usually up every 2 hours if not less.
I'll do her next update at 2 months and will then do monthly ones after that as things will be changing a lot less now.

Siblings - January

Another month has passed and all the children seem to be so much bigger this month. Harleigh is the one that has grown and changed the most which was always going to be the case. She is looking a lot less like a newborn now. It is really bittersweet. She is almost 2 months old.

Paige and Parker both still adore her. They constantly want to cuddle her, kiss her and play with her. It's going to be so amazing when she actually starts playing with them.

She will now smile in reaction to us and the kids adore that they can make her smile. They get happy if she just looks at them!

My three babies.

Review - Belly Bandit

During pregnancy I love my belly. I love watching it grow and feeling the baby moving around inside. After pregnancy I hate it. It feels so empty and jelly like. I'm quite lucky that in previous pregnancies my belly has gone down quite quickly.  Don't get me wrong I'm not one of these amazing women that walk out of hospital with a flat stomach but within a few weeks my belly is more or less back to normal and I just work on toning it a little.
With each pregnancy I've looked into ways to help my belly go down a little faster. One of the first companies I came across were Belly Bandit. Belly Bandit are a really popular brand who are known for their post pregnancy shape wear but now also sell items which are perfect during pregnancy too.
Just before Harleigh was born I was sent the original Belly Bandit to review and have loved wearing it. The Belly Bandit works by helping to shrink the belly, waist and hips. It also;
  • Adds support to the upper body while breastfeeding
  • Comforts the mid-section after a C-section
  • Helps the body lose inches faster
  • Helps minimize stretch marks
  • Adds support to the back and legs
  • Accelerates the healing process
  • Streamlines the silhouette
  • Boosts self confidence
  • Aids in decreased bloating and swelling
  • Reminds you to utilize your core muscles
  • Helps to gently persuade muscles back together
I was sent the small size and I'm usually a UK size 6-8. I could of got a medium but I wanted the Belly Bandit to last so right after I had Harleigh the Belly Bandit didn't actually fit. I had to wait a week or two for my belly to go down naturally and then I started using the Belly Bandit.
In the first few days after I started using it I noticed a big difference. My stomach was shrinking faster and I felt supported. My stomach muscles were very weak after pregnancy so the Belly Bandit helped to support my core and back.
I wore the Belly Bandit most days but never slept in it, although you can. I felt like I needed that freedom at night. Actually wearing the Belly Bandit was fine., it was so easy to put on as it just uses Velcro. It was comfortable  to wear but you could see it under certain clothes. I found myself wearing slightly looser tops to hide the Belly Bandit underneath. After a couple of weeks I was ready to move down a size so if you are thinking of buying one maybe consider buying your size and then the size below, there are full size guides on the Belly Bandit website.
I'm almost 8 weeks postpartum and no longer wear the Belly Bandit. My belly still isn't back to pre pregnancy size but I think it's more to do with weight loss now rather than it shrinking down on it's own. I do think the belly Bandit helped shrink my stomach and would recommend it to a friend and have done.
Have you ever tried the Belly Bandit or would you consider it?

Harleigh - 5 Weeks Old

This week seemed like a big week. Harleigh is coming on so well.

Towards the end of the week we moved her onto 5oz bottles and she is now in size 2 nappies and wearing 0-3m clothes. She is losing her hair on top and I've noticed some cradle cap on her forehead, eyebrows and it looks to be coming on the top of her head too.

She is so close to smiling and almost giggles in her sleep, it's so sweet!

Her sleep is coming along but isn't consistent. She is now awake morning and evening for two hours at a time which is lvoely. When we put her down at night she once slept 5 hours straight but usually sleeps 4-5 hours. I could hardly believe it!! We've mostly have 2 wake ups this week but she is fussy between 7-9pm and sometimes between 5-7am too. I'm hoping its just another sign of her leap.

She is starting to look less and less like a newborn. She is growing so quickly. She also celebrated her first Christmas this week. To be honest she had no clue but it was so lovely seeing Paige and Parker getting so excited at her little presents. Santa didn't go crazy and just got her a few toys and some clothes.

1 Month Postpartum - Baby #3

One month after having my third baby and I am feeling great. All my pregnancy issues have gone away including my hyperemesis which went as soon as I gave birth. It was amazing to not feel sick anymore and to not have to take my tablets.
My body is slowly getting there. I still have around a stone to go and because of Christmas I haven't even tried to lose weight, I shall start in the new year. My belly is slowly getting there, I don't think it will get any flatter without exercise and losing the last stone of baby weight. I've also used the Belly Bandit which is helping, review coming soon.
My skin and nails aren't as nice as they were while I was pregnant but that's always the case. I'm hoping that they even out again soon.

Apart from that everything else is pretty much the same.

How did you feel a month after giving birth?

Review - Minoti Baby Clothes

One thing I love about having a newborn is the clothes. They are so cute!

We were recently sent some items from Minoti for Harleigh to try out and review. Minoti is a UK company that sells baby and children's clothing that are just that little bit more special. Their clothes are gorgeous and I had such a hard time picking some things for Harleigh to try, I wanted everything!

In the end I went for some items in both 0-3 months and 3-6 months. We are yet to try out the 3-6 month items but if they are anything like that 0-3 month items we've tried so far I know that we will love them.

I decided to pick mostly sleepsuits and a just one outfit for 0-3 months. I just love babies in sleepsuits. Harleigh is 6/7 weeks and fits the 0-3 month sized sleepsuits but still has a little growing room in, which is important as babies grow so quickly. I would say that the hats are a little on the small side but to be honest she doesn't wear many hats. I love that the sleepsuits come with matching hats though it's a lovely little touch. The sleepsuits themselves are such lovely quality. They feel lovely and soft and perfect for a baby's delicate skin. They also wash and dry really well which is very important as we all know just how much babies need to be changed.

I love the small added details on the sleepsuits that makes them that little bit more special. The collar details and prints are gorgeous.

The 0-3 month outfit that I picked is equally as lovely. It is slightly too big so looked a little silly in full length picture but make sure you follow me on Instagram for a full length picture when Harleigh grows a little and for pictures of the other gorgeous items I picked in 3-6 months.

Overall we really love all the items from Minoti. They are great quality, wash well and I know they will last. They have some really lovely prints and designs. They also have some lovely baby boys clothes too.

Harleigh - 3 and 4 Weeks Old

Christmas and new year have meant that I'm a little behind with Harleigh's updates so i'm putting weeks 3 and 4 together.

Week 3
This week Harleigh is a lot more alert. Her head control gets better everyday and she is getting so strong. She has had a little growth spurt and is now around 9lbs. She has outgrown some tiny baby and newborn clothes. She is now on 4oz bottles. Sleeping is ok. She did sleep 4 hours straight in the night but usually is awake every 1-2 hours.

Week 4
This week Harleigh has shown some signs of going through her first leap. She is a little fussy when you put her down and loves nothing more than mummy cuddles. She is sleeping 4 hours quite regularly when she first goes down between 8-10pm and we usually have 3 wake ups in the night.
