Me and Mine - April

April was quite a rough month, to be honest I feel like 2018 hasn't gotten off to the best start. I'm hoping it might even out soon for the rest of the year.

This month the kids went back to school after the holidays which weren't great. The weather sucked so we couldn't do a lot, we did get a couple of nice days in the garden though. My birthday was ok but nothing special. Harleigh has slept awfully and was so poorly the other weekend, she almost ended up in hospital, we were so worried about her. Thankfully she is getting better now, still not 100% but a lot better than she was.

Apart from that i've had a rubbish month personally. I feel a little stuck in a rut, I don't really know what I want or what I want to do. Do I carry on blogging? Focus on other things? Get a job outside the house?

I honestly don't know what the future holds for me and us as family but I do know that we will be together and happy no matter what happens. Heres to some positive months!

This months pictures were very last minute, after everything I totally forgot about picture. Wouldn't it be easier if we all had a photographer following us around taking snaps of us at just the right moments?!

I kind of love that I'm not in focus properly because those four people behind me are why I do what I do everyday. I know I need to look after myself too but they always come before me and I am so lucky to have them all.

Mummy and Me - April 2018

These months are flying by far too quickly for my liking. This month is no exception. We enjoyed the school holidays, although the weather was awful we did get two really lovely days. The weather was amazing the week the kids went back to school, typical. We didn’t do anything special. We didn’t go anyway fancy but it was still nice. Nice to not have to rush around, nice to spend together and nice to be lazy. Mark also had a few days off so that was lovely to have him home too. We also celebrated my birthday in the holidays too.

Since going back to school life is busy again. The kids are loving back to school and I knew they would. Parker got his first choice School ready for September and he can’t wait to start big School. Paige has a school trip which she is so excited for.

Me and Harleigh have got back into the routine of school runs and play group. I love spending time with her in the mornings but she hasn’t been very well this last week. She had a really high temperature for four days and the doctor has no idea what was wrong. Luckily she seems to be getting better and stronger by the day and we are starting to see our little sausage peeking through.

The next couple of months should be really fun, I’m both excited and sad. In May Paige turns 6, Harleigh turns 18 months and in June Parker will be 4. I just can’t believe how fast time is going.

I didn't get any pictures of us together in the holidays so this months picture is just super casual in our bedroom and I love how it turned out. Harleigh was starting to get poorly here so I didn't think she would play along but she totally did, this was the first picture we took!

Harleigh - 17 Months Old

just one month until Harleigh is 18 months old, 1.5 years old! How is that even possible?! Harleigh is running everywhere, its so cute to see her little legs going so quickly. She is really confident at walking outside now and loves it. Her feet are currently a size 3 but she will be moving up to a 4 really, really soon.

She is still super cheeky but very sweet. She has cut her lateral incisor we were waiting for and all four molars are fully through so she now has 12 teeth. Her sleep is still very up and down. She either sleeps through or is up for 3 hours straight during the night. Safe to say we are exhausted, she is going through a leap so i think thats whats causing the issues.

She still doesn't really talk much. She will occasionally say mama, daddy and hiya but thats about it. I'm not worried. She understands us so well. I can ask her to get things for me and she will. The other day I asked her to get me the rubbish (it was a crisp packet but i wanted to see if she would understand rubbish and she did) in the other room and bring it to me and she did.

Her hair is getting so long and growing so quickly. She is trying to dress herself and will try putting socks on or tops on but doesn't quite do it yet. She is really good at using a spoon and fork. She loves kicking a ball and playing with toys and teddy bears.

She is still eating quite well and still having her milk. Shes so good and we are so lucky. She is just getting so big so, so quickly.

Siblings - April 2018

The children have loved April and the Easter holidays, we have too. Its so nice to spend some time together without school or nursery runs getting in the way.

They are loving that Harleigh is properly walking. It means that she can really play and join in so much more. I've taken so many pictures of them all together it was really hard to pick only a few. I love taking pictures of them all together in the holidays. I feel like during term time i hardly ever get pictures of them as a three.

This first picture means so much. When we announced I was pregnant with Harls it was a very quick and unplanned decision. I was only 9 weeks pregnant. I'd just come out of hospital and was still very sick. We decided it was time to tell the world. We didn't have time for a fancy video or even a picture so I looked on my phone and found a cute picture of Paige and Parker walking hand in hand in the park. It was taken a few days before. I simply added a few words and that was our announcement. I love that we got to recreate the picture but with Harleigh in the mix.

These pictures were taken in the garden. We've only had a couple of days where the sun has shone so we've had to make the most of them. They've loved playing in the garden together, digging in the mud and jumping on the trampoline.

I can not wait for some better weather and to get out and about with them all and their daddy. I'm excited to see them exploring new places together.

Cabin Beds For Kids

My big kids both love their bedroom. It's their space where they can do whatever they like, within reason. They can hide under the covers reading books or dress up as Superman or a fairy princess. They love to go up there and play with toys and sometimes hide from Harleigh.

At almost six and four they are old enough that I can trust them to play nicely and not make too much mess! They get along really well and can tidy up after themselves.  They do both share a room so space might be an issue in the future. Paige is currently in a single bed and Parker in a toddler/cotbed. When Harleigh is a little older she will be moving into the room to share with Paige and Parker will be in a room on his own. As space will be limited in both rooms a solution we are looking into and starting to research now is cabin beds.

Cabin beds can be great additions to any room. They can provide extra storage and add fun elements into the room. I love the idea of having the extra storage, some come with draws, shelves or even space underneath to play. At the moment Paige is dying for a desk, she wants to be exactly like me. Some cabin beds have them built in! She would love it.

As Parker is that little bit younger he wouldn’t really need a desk but a cabin bed with a slide would be his dream, I bet Paige would find it fun too!

They come in all different sizes, shapes and designs and would be able to fit in with other furniture without a problem. Bed Kingdom have a lovely range of kids cabin beds for children of all ages and the prices are great too!

For me the storage elements are a big enough plus that I am already leaning towards them and the kids won't be switching rooms for another year or so.

Do your children have cabin beds? I'd love to hear how you feel about them.

Easter Holidays - Week 1

We have finished the first week of the Easter holidays and it has flown by. I'm hoping that week two goes a little slower.

We started off the holidays with Easter and a lovely five day weekend with Mark at home, I wish he could have off every holiday with the kids but that just isn't possible. He did manage five days with us because of the bank holidays and then her took an extra day for my birthday. I've never eaten so much, Easter followed by a birthday! We had a lovely Easter, we didn't do much but saw some special friends, family and ate a lot of chocolate. We also had snow! Not enough to play in but enough to slow everyone down.

My birthday was ok, we went out for lunch and then had a little buffet at home, sadly the candles for the cake were forgotten but we improvised and made it work.

Then daddy had to go back to work and it was just me and the three terrors. It honestly flew. We had a bit of a rainy day so played inside, snuggled and just had quite a lazy day which was lovely after a busy Easter and birthday. On Thursday we had a whole day of sunshine, it was heaven. We spent most of the time in the garden. I cleaned off the trampoline so the kids could jump and I managed to tidy up the garden a little. Does anyone else let the garden go during the winter?!

On Friday we had friends over in the afternoon and in the morning we dressed up, played games and did each others hair, the big two wanted to be like Harleigh. So cute!

We have a few plans for next week and I'm hoping we get some more nice weather as it was lovely. We are all ready to be outside more and eagerly await spring.
