Me and Mine - May 2018

May has flown by so quickly. I can’t believe that we are almost in June. Each month seems to be going quicker and quicker. Its crazy that we are almost half through the month!

This month we celebrated Paige turning SIX! I can’t believe we have a six year old. She had such a lovely birthday and was over the moon that she got to spend it at school. After school we had a little surprise family party planned which was lovely. A couple of days after her birthday at the weekend we went out with friends for pizza and then ice cream. It was so yummy!

We’ve had some lovely family walks, amazing sunny days in the garden and wonderful days out with family. Two great bank holidays and half term. Its such a shame the weather wasn't super nice during half term but we still had fun together.

Next month is super exciting. We have Fathers Day,  a holiday with friends and Parker turning FOUR! I am really looking forward to the next month and can't wait to go on holiday.

When You’re Gone – What Legacy Will You Leave Behind?

Have you ever stopped and wondered what would you be remembered for, if anything, if you were gone tomorrow? What legacy would you leave behind? Is it the one you would like or memories that you feel wouldn’t do you justice?
Life is short, far too short. One day you are revising for exams in school that you are told will shape your entire life and the next you are watching the world pass you by with nothing more than memories to look back on. That might seem a little on the dark side, but it’s true, and the only thing that truly lasts forever is your mark on the world and those around you.

To The World You Are One Person, but to One Person You Might be The World
Never underestimate the lasting effect that one good deed can have on someone. To you, it may just be a throwaway piece of generosity, but to someone who is stuck in a rut it could just be the lifeline they so badly needed. You might just save a life.
Kindness costs nothing but means absolutely everything. You will never truly know of the effects of what you say or do to someone. You aren’t present as they wipe away the tears at night, you know nothing of their silent suffering and you certainly don’t know a thing about what they are going through.

Leaving Something Behind
The best legacy that anyone can leave behind is to give something that will continue to benefit others for many years afterwards. This is very much the ideology of Sadaqah Jariyah in Muslim culture, where donations are made with that act of charity continuing to make the lives of others better long after you are gone. You can read some more information on the practice here: https://www.muslimaid.org/sadaqah-jariyah/

Education is possibly the most precious and important thing that you can give to another person. Teaching children provides them with the knowledge to form their own informed opinions, one day making their own mark on the world as you are today. What greater legacy can one person leave behind than teaching the leaders of tomorrow, ensuring that our world is left in capable hands?

Active in the Community
How active are you in your local community? Do you consider your neighbours to be friends or are you the sort to keep the curtains closed and remain silent when you hear a knock at the door? Sadly, most of us fall into the latter category. When you consider that society, for the most part, would much rather escape to their own world with earphones in than talk to the person they try so hard to avoid any awkward eye contact.
You don’t have to know everyone’s business to be an active member of your community, and neither should you. Volunteering your time for good causes, such as helping out at a community centre, local sports club or anywhere else that could benefit from an extra pair of hands. The difference that your efforts could make would be remembered for a long time after.

If Nothing Else, Just be Happy
Sometimes, just being happy is the best legacy that anyone can hope to leave behind. A smile is infectious and laughter more so. Bringing joy into someone else’s life is a grossly underrated concept, especially in the present day.
Remaining positive and upbeat often rubs off on those around you, generating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all to enjoy.
So, what will you be remembered for? It’s not too late to make sure that you are remembered for the reasons you want to be.

Harleigh - 18 Months Old

1.5 years old, how is that possible?! Wasn't she just born?!

At 18 months old she is now in size 4 shoes and some 12-18m clothes and some 18-24 month clothes.  The 12-18m is getting short in the legs and arms though! She still has 12 teeth with two others very close to cutting through the gum.

She still isn't talking loads but like I said in my last update she understands so much so we aren't worried. She seems to talk a lot more for daddy than me. She did say Peppa at the weekend, maybe an early addiction is starting!! Although she's never really watched tv. She never really says her previous words narna, bye, hi and a few others and usually sticks to mama and daddy/dada.

She is still really good at eating and still has milk two or three times a day. I'm not fussed that she still has milk, she is still eating well so it doesn't effect that.

Her personality is amazing, she is such a little character. She is so smiley, so friendly and so cheeky. She adores Paige and Parker.

Her sleep is very up and down, she will sometimes sleep through to 7am, sometimes shes up at 5:30am and the rest of the time she can be up twice a night. Its mainly effected by teething now. The same with her naps, she will usually sleep for 2 hours between 1-3pm but if she is teething that really interrupts it. She does have a hard time with teething. She seems to struggle for weeks and week before a tooth finally cuts. She is the worst teether out of the three and we really do know when shes in pain.

I love doing her monthly pictures and for special ones like a birthday or half birthday i love putting the kids in special clothes. I adore this zebra dress for Harleighs pictures this month. When she turns two I would love to get her some extra special prom dresses for kids, we did the same for Paige when it was her birthday and i've still got the dresses today! Only 6 months to go until Harleigh is two!

We can't imagine what life would be like without Harleigh and I can't wait to see the little girl that she will turn into but it is very bittersweet watching her grow up so quickly.

Birthday Pictures - Paige is SIX!

Every year I love to take pictures of the kids just before they turn another year older. I love seeing the difference each year and I love taking the pictures.

I can't believe that Paige is six. Six seems so big and so grown up and this years pictures prove that!

I love to capture how they change as day to say I don't think you really notice the small changes. The way their faces slim out a little or how their features just seem that little bit more grown up.

I can't believe our first baby is SIX!

Tomorrow You Are SIX!

I can't believe that Paige is SIX tomorrow. Six is so big, too big!

She is growing up every day and she is so excited. Why don't they stay little long?! I feel like i blinked and she's suddenly so big. I wish we could go back and just relive each moment over again.

She is doing so well at school and will be going into year 2 in September. She loves school and is really happy there. She loves all subjects and loves learning. I hope she keeps that as she grows even older. She loves art and maths the most and when she grows up she wants to be teacher.

Her speech is amazing now and you wouldn't even think that she had speech therapy last year. We are just so proud of how well she is doing and couldn't hope for anything more.

She is the best big sister to Parker and Harleigh. She adores them and they adore her so much.

I just can't figure out how she is six years old tomorrow. It doesn't seem that long ago since she was first the squishy newborn that we nervously brought home from the hospital. She has grown and changed so much in that time and we couldn't be prouder.

Siblings - May 2018

We've finally had some nice sunny weather. It so lovely to watch the kids playing outside properly together. We've had some lovely days together in the garden, with family and out for adventures together too.

This month has been all about matching. Paige absolutely loves matching clothes with Harleigh. Parker would too but its so hard to find matching items for them all. He still loves joining in with pictures though!

Paige and Parker are really loving school and nursery. They are loving getting outside together and going on family adventures. We can't wait to do more.

Paige is 6 in a matter of days and Harleigh will turn 1.5 on the same day too. Then next month Parker is 3. I feel like they are all growing up so quickly and time is just flying by. I still love watching their relationship. I always get asked if they get along and they really do. They are siblings though so sometimes they do fight but they are very rare and usually they love spending time with each other. They love the fact that Harleigh is walking and running along, although she isn't as fast as them yet.

I feel so lucky to have these three. They are everything we could of hoped for and more.

Bank Holiday - May 2018

Its almost a week later and i still don't think I'm over the bank holiday, I want another one. It was so perfect I'm in denial that it ended. The weather was amazing, the kids were lovely and we just had such a lovely weekend.

On Saturday I escaped into town on my own, child free for a couple of hours. That hasn't happened in so, so long. It was lovely to be able to walk around the shops on my own, to not rush and to just enjoy the experience. In the afternoon we played in the garden, ate ice creams and just had a wonderful time together.

On Sunday the weather was even better. In the morning we sorted out the garden, or tried. We got a huge chunk done but we still have a big chunk left to do. I was super impressed with what we got done though. After that we enjoy enjoyed the garden. The kids had there sand and water table out, the slide and other garden toys. We had family over later on in the day for a BBQ and family games in the garden. It was another super simple but wonderful day.

On Monday we drove up to my mums, she lives a couple of hours away. They did a pool for the kids but because it was so big they couldn't heat it up enough so it was freezing and the dog ended up going in instead! We had lunch in the garden and some lovely family time.

I love that the weather was actually nice for one, that we were able to enjoy the garden and just spend time together with family.

I can't wait for the next bank holiday! Did you do anything fun over the bank holiday weekend?

Top Five Money Saving Tips

Having three children isn't cheap and we try our best to make our money go as far as possible. For some things this isn't always possible but we've picked up a few tips and tricks on the way and I wanted to share them.

1) Meal Plan - We always meal plan. Each week I take the time to think about the week coming up and what we will have for meals. I then make a shopping list so that we have everything we need to make those meals. When we do our shopping I then stick to the shopping list as much as possible, of course I also add in essential items. I use a planner for my meal plans and to keep me organised which helps a lot. I often hear people say they find it hard to stick to meal plans, what we do is pick 7 meals for the week but don't assign each meal a day. Every morning we then pick from the list of what we would like to eat that evening.

2) Buy bulk - Things that won't spoil buy in bulk, it might cost a lot initially but overall you will save money. We bulk buy things like washing powder, toilet roll, baby wipes. You just need somewhere to store them. You can also look for deals on baby items. The supermarkets usually have great deals in baby events every few months.

3) Sale shopping - Something else we try to do is shop in the sales. Babies and children grow so quickly, if you have the space it's great to buy the size up in the sales and then store them for when they are needed. that way you also have the next size ready for when the growth spurt happens. You can always use sites like Groupon to save extra money on clothing too. They have some great deals, you can even save money on your favourite Joules clothing.

4) Compare - Its also a good idea to check your bills and see if you can save anything there. Compare your electricity prices and tv packages to see if you are really getting the best deal.

5) Selling items - Sell items you don't use. Toys that aren't played with, clothes you never wear or don't fit. I love using Shpock and its really handy to have the app right on my phone.

Sometimes no matter how careful you are or how much you plan somethings can't be helped and for those things sometimes a payday loan could help you get through the month.

Do you have anymore tips and tricks?
