Me and Mine - November 2018

It’s almost the last month of the year. This year has absolutely flown by.

November was a lovely month. Harleigh turned two and we celebrated 5 years married. We didn’t do anything overly special for either thing but Harleigh had a lovely birthday and a little family party.

We didn't do much for our anniversary either and Mark wasn't that well but it was nice to just celebrate the day and reflect on our wedding day.

I love our picture this month. Every year on our anniversary we have taken a picture holding the previous years picture. I love seeing how much the kids have changed and i'm already so excited to see next years with a new little face in the picture!

December is filling up very quickly, I feel like it gets busy for everyone. By the end of the month i will also be over 30 weeks pregnant and on the 10 week countdown for the baby. I think Its going to fly by once Christmas is over.

24 Weeks Pregnant - Baby #4

This week the baby is growing steadily. Weighing in at 1.3lbs. The brain is developing very quickly and taste buds are also developing. At 24 weeks the baby is also capable of surviving outside the womb, although they would need a lot of help.

I always love getting to 24 weeks. It feels like a big milestone. This week i've had more back and hip pain, it's usually there in the background but occasionally plays up and hurts. I also had a funny day where I felt really dizzy and light headed and just not right, I think it was due to babies position. I've also had some bigger movements this week where I can feel baby on opposite sides of my belly, they are getting so big! Quite interestingly I am quite small so far this time. I compared bump pictures of when I was pregnant with Harleigh and I look tiny this time around. There's plenty of time for that to change though! I'm not having very many cravings, but I am really enjoying mayo and Jammie Dodgers. Separately, not together!

My Hummy Review - White Noise Bear

Sleep is so important and if I’m completely honest broken sleep is what I find the hardest about being a mum. I love my sleep and find it hard when the kids are awake for long periods during the night or up every hour. We try our best to ensure a good nights sleep every single night but of course that isn’t always possible.

One of the things we do is use white noise for Harleigh. She has just turned two but I still find it helps her a lot. Over the last few weeks we’ve tried out My Hummy

My Hummy is a white noise bear that has a Humming Heart inside. There are five types of white noise amniotic fluid with heartbeat, rainfall, sea waves, hairdryer and a vacuum cleaner. The sound gently fades away after 60 minutes but activates again if baby starts to stir using the sleep sensor. There is also a Non-stop mode for an uninterrupted night's sleep and volume control.

On some models you can also pair with your phone via Bluetooth and once you’ve downloaded the app you can control the bear from your phone which is great. Pairing the bear and your phone is easy. Click the heart three times and it connects. You can control volume and even change the sound. You can also set an alarm mode that will alert you if baby is making a noise.

Additional features available only on Bluetooth models:
  • Use your phone as a remote control for myHummy
  • Adjust the volume and type of sound
  • Control the duration of sound
  • Switch the Sleep Sensor on and off
  • Use Alarm Mode to send notifications to a phone when baby starts to whimper or cry (within Bluetooth range)
I will admit that for me the best feature is the fact that i can control it from my phone. I just love that option and it comes in really handy.

Overall we love the My Hummy. It really helps Harleigh to fall asleep and stay asleep. During naptime I use it during the whole time and at bedtime it goes off after 2 hours, she is usually in a pretty deep sleep then. I also like the fact that the volume can change, I tried out a few different volumes when it arrived and Harleigh seems to really like it on 14 so we keep it on that. It does go through batteries quite quickly but it gets used for 4 hours a day.

Have you tried white noise?

23 Weeks Pregnant - Baby #4

This week baby is more than 500g which is over 1lb and 28.9cm long. Baby is also starting to hear sounds more far away than inside the body and may respond to them. The babies bone marrow is starting to make blood cells.

I felt the baby have hiccups for the first time this week. I've also noticed that movements are getting a lot bigger and changing. instead of just kicks i'm starting to feel more rolling movement. I feel like my bump has really popped again. I haven't had as much heartburn this week but my hip and back pain has continued. This pregnancy is flying by and I can't believe we are almost at 24 weeks.

Before You Turn Two

I am very much in denial that tomorrow you turn two. It doesn't seem like enough time has passed for it to be true, even though I am pregnant again I still can't get my head around it. Surely you should still be the tiny newborn we brought home.

This past year has flown, I've only just got used to you turning one and here we are the night before you turn two. You are such a special little girl and we all love you so much. Paige and Parker still adore you, as do we.

You have such a big personality for such a small little girl. You aren't talking very much but we understand you a lot and you manage to tell us what you want.

You are very excited about the baby and love playing with your dolls and prams. I am so excited to see you as a big sister in a few months time. I know you will be amazing, you always are.

Siblings - November 2018

My mission this month was to get some cute autumn pictures of the kids. Harleigh is at the age where she has to be in the mood to take pictures or she just won't cooperate at all. Guess which Harleigh i got?!

I managed to get a couple of ones that I like though plus some cute halloween pictures too!

This month the kids have loved spending time together. They've also loved trying to feel the baby and seeing him/her kicking. They are so sweet and are so excited!

Harleigh also turns TWO in a matter of days so they are super excited for her birthday.

We've had half term and they have loved playing together, drawing and doing crafts. We have had some lovely lazy film afternoons too which are much welcomed.

They are also very excited for next month and for Christmas. It's coming around so quickly and after Christmas we will officially be in baby countdown mode!

22 Weeks Pregnant - Baby #4

This week baby is almost 430g and measures around 27.8cm long. Baby looks exactly like a newborn, just smaller and skinnier. Fingernails have now grown to the edge of the finger tips and the eyes are formed although colourless. Baby is also continuing to swallow fluid.

I've had a little more nausea again this week, tiredness brought it on this week. I've also had some pretty painful hip and back pain which I think is here to stay. Its happened for a few weeks now but is getting more and more noticeable. The wrist pain seems to have calmed down a lot which is nice although I do still have some tingly feelings in them every once in a while. Paige also finally felt the baby this week, she would never sit long enough before.

Boots Mini Club Review - Autumn/Winter 2018

Harleigh was recently sent some gorgeous items from Boots Mini Club and the Fearne by Fearne Cotton range.

She received the most gorgeous Parka, which I will admit is my favourite item. So much so that I actually wish they made an adult version! We would look super cute matching!

We have had so many compliments on the coat too, people love the pop of pink on the hood. I am going to be so sad when she outgrows it. The colours and quality are amazing and it keeps her lovely and warm.

We were also sent some leggings and top. I love this little outfit together and Harleigh looks super cute wearing it! They aren’t the usual colours I would go for and I love that Boots doesn’t just so the typical pink for girls but they are still really sweet outfits.

The clothes have washed and dried really well and we couldn’t be happier! I can’t wait for her to wear them more and more.

21 Weeks Pregnant - Baby 4

This week baby is 26.7cm long and weighing in at 360g. The eyebrows are getting thicker and the eyes are moving rapidly under the eye lids. The baby will overtake the placenta growth from now on and become bigger and bigger.

I had some more nausea this week thanks to a garlic spray. It was a big trigger for me in the first trimester and it seems like it still is now. I've had more heartburn, which I think will be a constant symptom for me now. More constipation and a new symptom this week is wrist pain. Carpal tunnel is really common in pregnancy but I've never experienced it before, until now. We also saw the baby moving from the outside!!

Little Chick London Bed Side Crib First Impressions

When you become pregnant loads of things run through your mind, even fourth time around I can’t help but have a thousand thoughts running through my mind, even though we have done this three times before.

We were recently sent the bed side crib from Little Chick London and I can’t wait for baby to arrive to test it out but for now I wanted to do a little first impressions post.

With the other children we’ve always used moses baskets and whilst I don’t have a problem with them babies tend to grow out of them very, very quickly. It seems like such a waste. We  also have quite fidgety babies too so as soon as they kick their legs on the sides they make so much noise during the night, even when they are asleep. Yet the noise keeps me awake.

The Little Chick London bedside crib is bigger than the standard Moses basket or crib so hopefully we won’t have that problem. Baby will have plenty of room to grow and move around.

It also has breathable mesh sides to allow proper air flow and temperature control.

It folds for storage and the covers can also be washed, we all know how messy babies can be so this is a real plus.

The crib seems really great so far. You have to put it together when it arrives but it was so simple that me and the kids did it whilst mark had a soak in the bath! It didn't take long at all and the instructions are really easy to follow.

The design of the crib is really lovely and modern and they have a couple of different colour options too which is nice. We went for cool white as I thought that would fit with upstairs and even downstairs too. As the crib folds we could easily take it downstairs if we wanted baby to use it down there.

I am so excited for baby to arrive to test the crib out properly and can’t wait to see little baby sleeping peacefully inside.

Do you prefer bed side cribs or moses baskets?

20 Week Scan - Baby #4

On October 17th we had our 20 week scan. I was so excited to see the baby. Mark booked time off work and off we went with Harleigh. I went prepared with lots of snacks to keep her entertained but she didn't need them. She sat on Marks knee and stared at the screen and watched the wand gliding over my belly.

At the very beginning of this pregnancy we were going to have a surprise. We've found out the gender with the previous three and this was going to be the one that we didn't find out, as this will be our last baby. But I am so impatient. Over the weeks I slowly realised that I needed to know. I needed to be able to imagine our family with another little girl or boy. I needed to limit the name choice to one gender. I needed to plan. We came to the decision that we would find out, if baby would let us, but that we wouldn't tell anyone else.

The scan started off really well. Baby was all ok with a nice strong heartbeat. The lady did a quick scan over and showed us all the parts of the baby then went ahead and took the measurements. Baby was in a very awkward position and was curled up in a ball with their arms and legs over their head. This made it a little tricky for her to see the nose, lips and chin but we eventually got to see. Everything was measuring spot on, the stomach was a few days ahead at 20+3 and the head and legs were coming in at exactly 20 weeks, I was 19+6 on the day.

We then got a picture taken, this was the best of a bad bunch because the baby was laid in such an awkward position she couldn't get a good profile shot. She then asked about the gender and if we wanted to know. I jumped in quickly and said yes, Mark decided he would stay and find out too.

We do know the gender but won't be telling anyone else, even the kids don't know. I love that only me and Mark know and no one else does, but I do know that it does drive some people a little bonkers, knowing we know but aren't telling anyone.

All will be revealed in March!

20 Weeks Pregnant - Baby #4

This week baby is now measured from crown to heel and is coming in at 25.6cm long and weighs around 300g. Half way!

My symptoms this week are more or less the same as the previous. I've had more night time heart burn and more bigger movements. I've been super hungry in the mornings too and by tea time I am very ready for more food, even though i am snacking too.

Me and Mine - October 2018

Another month down, aren't they going so quickly?! We are already in November and that is so crazy to me. I don't know where the days go.

This month we've spent a lot more time together which is nice, although we have had our fair share of illness this month which is to be expected at this time of year I guess.

November is a big month, Harleigh turns two in two weeks. I swear she was just born. She still feels quite little as she doesn't really talk much but she gets her point across no problem. We've also had half term which was nice. It's nice to not have to rush around in the morning. We've had loads of birthday parties and we are almost finished decorating the living room, I am so excited for it to be finished! We also had our 20 week scan and everything looks perfect.
