Tomorrow You Are SEVEN!

Almost seven years since I first became a mum, it almost doesn't feel real. I don't feel like it's possible for Paige to be that grown up.

So much has happened this past year. She lost 4 baby teeth and gained 6 adult teeth. She moved into year 2 at school and absolutely loves it. She has found an even bigger love for reading and art. She gained another little brother too.

Paige is an absolute joy to be around, she is so caring and kind. She is the sweetest little girl and we all adore her more than anything.

Whilst taking her birthday pictures this year I had to stop myself from crying, she just look so big and I know that when her top front adult teeth come in she will look even bigger!

Our sweet big girl.

Siblings - May 2019

This year is flying by so quickly. I hate it, I really do. I want time to slow down so I can enjoy these four for longer.

They are all growing up so quickly. I try to cherish and soak up each and everyday but with four life is so busy that its tough to do. I don't think I will tire of seeing them all together and actually seeing them not as a four feels so strange to me now.

They all still adore Kingsley, I don't think that will change to be honest. He is going to love them all so much when he's older and will already give them the best smiles! They love helping me look after him, feeding him, playing with him and just generally be around him.

We are so lucky that they have all adjusted so well.

Six Week Update - Mum and Baby

These weeks are going far too quickly.

At 6 weeks postpartum I feel great. A little bit tired but surely that's expected. My legs are feeling better and my skin isn't too great but apart from that i can't complain. I also lost 3lbs since which is good, it's nice to see the scale finally moving again. i must admit I think i've struggled the most this time around with my body after pregnancy, well my weight after pregnancy. I gained the most I ever had this pregnancy, purely because i didn't have HG so I didn't lose much weight in the beginning when i usually lost around half a stone. I know in time it will get better and i will lose the weight but I am trying to speed it along anyway I can and it looks like it's finally starting to shift.

Before birth and 6 weeks after

Kingsley is doing so well. He slept 6 hours one night which was amazing, he usually does 4 hours at first and then is up every 1-2 hours. He did 9pm until 3am, had a feed and then went back down. Generally speaking he never really had his days and nights mixed up which was lovely, he is usually awake for a little while in the mornings and the evenings too. He is giving us so many more smiles and is cooing at us too. Its so lovely to see that interaction but I already miss my sleepy newborn, I love those first few weeks. He is eating 4oz every 2-3 hours and is wearing 0-3m clothes. He has a little bit of baby acne but not too badly, he also has cradle cap too. He is still a little fussy in the evening around 7-9pm. He's such a good boy in general and is so happy and content.

1 Month Update - Mum and Baby

A whole month since I gave birth, I can barely believe it. Its gone so fast, too fast. At 1 month postpartum I am feeling good, my appetite has come back which is nice. My weight is getting me down a little if im honest. I feel like i've hardly lost any weight but my belly is slowly going down. My legs are still a little sore at times and I have the occasional backache still. I still have my muscle seperation but I am down to a 2 finger gap instead of 3.

Kinglsey is also doing really well. He recently gave us a four hour stretch at night which is nice. He is on 4oz of milk and size 2 nappies. He tends to be a little fussy around 7-9pm at night, it kind of works out well as the bigger kids are already in bed so me and Mark can concentrate on him.

Me and Mine - April 2019

Another month has gone so quickly. This month we had the Easter holidays and my 30th birthday. we didn't do much for either and just time together as a family. We also had some really lovely weather which was so nice. I can't wait for more to come.

I still love seeing us as a six, it's still so new and just makes me smile from ear to ear. I'm not sure if I will ever feel completely done having children but this is our four and how our family will stay.

I can't wait to watch the children all grow together and for us to grow together as a family. Im excited for all the times ahead we have.

Two Week Update - Mum and Baby

Two weeks after delivery and I feel good but I am in a little pain and still a little sore. I keep having back cramps which are actually really painful, the after pains come and go as well. I'm also having headaches every now and again, just from the tiredness. My stomach went from 38 inches to 34 but my muscles are very weak and I have a 3cm gap in my stomach muscles.

At 2 weeks old Kingsley is now 8lb 12oz and was discharged from the midwife, everything is perfect.  He also had his hearing test and passed with flying colours. He is drinking 2-3oz every 3 hours, the longest he slept was a 3.5 hour stretch.

He also started tracking our movements and would follow us with his eyes, so cute!

He is so chilled out but hates his nappy changing. He rarely cries (apart from nappy changes) and loves bath time.

Siblings - April 2019

We are now 5 weeks into having four and I still love it just as much as I did 5 weeks ago.

The kids are all still obsessed with Kingsley and he loves it too. We couldn't of asked for anything more. They are all so lovely with him, especially Harleigh who won't stop kissing him and asking to cuddle him.

Paige and Harleigh are like little mums and just want to look after him, Parker loves cuddling him to and just can't wait for Kingsley to be old enough to play with him.

We are so lucky that so far they've all reacted so well, no jealousy or problems at all. They are such lovely kids and I can't wait to watch them grow up and their bonds to form even more but I am very much enjoying this early stage which is already going so fast.

Siblings - March 2019

I completely forgot to do my sibling post for March, that's totally ok after just having a baby right?!

Kingsley arrived on March 8th so by the time it cam round to do my sibling post a week later i completely forgot but didn't want to miss it so here it is.

The kids were so so excited to meet him and couldn't wait to meet him. They came in the morning less than 2 hours after he was born to meet him. It was so cute seeing them altogether. I have individual pictures of them all at hospital but this is the first one i have of them all together right after school the day he was born, just a couple of hours after we got home.

These two pictures are from the first week of his life and I love them. It feels so right seeing them as a four and it just makes my heart melt.

One Week Update - Mum and Baby

I'll start off with my update and then move onto Kingsley.

This was my quickest labour and I went from 4cm to delivery in 1 hour 50 minutes. I did have a 1st degree tear and stitches. In the first week I was really achy and sore from birth but generally I was doing really well. I had quite a few back spasms and after pains. I was also quite swollen in my hands and feet which i've never really experienced after birth before. At the end of pregnancy my belly measured 41 inch, after delivery I was down to 38 inches.

Kingsley passed all his newborn checks with flying colours. He was 8lb 5oz at birth and his head was 33cm. We got released from the birth centre 6 hours after delivery. He had his newborn check before we left and everything was good. He had a slight heart murmur but everything else was perfect. He didn't feed much that first day which is totally normal, his fast delivery took it out of him.

During the first week he ate 1 -2oz every 2-3 hours. He had his heel prick test on day 5 and was weighed again, he'd only lost 1.7% of his weight so was doing really well. On day 7 his cord came off.

He has fitted in so far really well and we are all loving the newborn bubble and don't want it to end. The kids are all obsessed with him and adore him.

Me and Mine - March 2019

March and possibly my favourite me and mine picture. In hospital just hours after our final addition was born, in fact Kingsley was only 2 hours old.

The kids came to visit us just before school and Mark quickly snapped a family picture and I couldn't love it more!

He has fitted in so perfectly and we all adore him. The kids have adjusted so well, especially Harleigh. The other two are used to having younger siblings and we couldn't be prouder of Harleigh.

I can not wait to see our family develop over the rest of the year.

Birth Story - Baby #4

My due date came and I was still pregnant. I could not believe that I was still pregnant. Everyone seemed convinced that I would go early. I’d given up trying to induce labour and just relaxed. I was ok with going over due and just decided to relax and enjoy the last few days pregnant. I think I would of cried if I’d made 41 weeks though.

At 3pm I started having pains. I was just about to leave to pick the kids up from school. Pains weren’t unusual for me. I’d had them quite a lot. They even became regular and painful at times so I just ignored them and figured they would just die off like they usually did. I noticed they were quite regularly at every 4-6 minutes. I carried on as normal and sorted the kids out. By 6pm we had finished eating tea and the pains were every 2 minutes and more intense I had to breathe through them. I started to wonder if this was real labour. We got the kids to bed, I tidied the kitchen and I called the birth centre. They wanted me to go in. We called my dad and his partner to come over and watch the kids.

We got to the hospital and all my pains stopped. I only had 1 since walking through the door and I was gutted. The midwife wanted us to wait around for a couple of hours to see if anything started up again. An hour went by and nothing so I asked to be examined. I figured that it would be nice to know if I was dilated and have a sweep to maybe help things along, I wasn’t booked in for a sweep for 5 more days and since it was my due date the midwife was happy to go ahead. I was 3cm at 9pm and very soft but still quite thick. The midwife could feel babies head and my waters were bulging. They made us stay for another hour after the sweep just incase but still nothing so we decided to go home. The midwife thought the sweep had a good chance of working and said she wouldn't be surprised to see us back during the night.

She was right.

At 2:15am I got woken up with contractions, I tried to rest but by 3am they were intense and coming quickly, every 2-3 minutes. The pain then started to travel down my hips and thighs.

This was it!

I called the birth centre and they wanted me to go in again so I called my dad again and he came back over. We got to hospital at 4:30am and I was 4cm. We had progress!!

I laboured out of the water for about an hour before getting in the pool. I didn’t want to get in too quickly. I worked through each contraction with Mark by my side. At around 5:30am I got into the pool, I knew i was getting close. At 6:07am my waters went with a pop in the pool and with each contraction I felt the urge the push. My body was taking over and pushing. At 6:17am the babies head was born and at 6:20am the baby arrived. I reached down and scooped him up out of the water.

Our second baby boy.

My fourth water birth, no pain relief and exactly how I wished.

I feel so lucky and blessed to of had 4 amazing natural water births. Three of which were in the same pool.

40 Weeks Pregnant - Baby #4

This week baby is around 7 1/2 pounds in weight and 20 inches long.

I still can't believe I made it to my due date, because both Parker and Harleigh were early the midwife was convinced that I wouldn't make it to 40 weeks but here I am. Thankfully I didn't go too far overdue and I actually went into labour on my due date, even though it later stopped. Baby did arrive the day after though. Stay tuned for for birth story!

39 Weeks Pregnant - Baby #4

This week baby is around 7.2lbs and 50.7cm long. The skin is becoming thicker and all the organs are now developed and ready to go. The lungs are producing more surfactant, the substance that will keep the tiny air sacs open when baby is born.

Same as last week and I've broken symptoms down by day. The day I turned 39 weeks I had a few braxton hicks, a sore upper back. I also lost more mucus plug and was waddle was very real! At 39+1 I lost more plug, had slight cramps and very sore legs. At 39+2 I felt quite rough, sick and dizzy. At 39+3 I had lower back ache and my body was clearing itself out. For the rest of the week things were pretty much the same and i was really sore, tired and kept losing more plug.

Me and Mine - February 2019

Our last full month as a family of five. I can't believe we are here already but we are all so excited and can't wait to meet the final member of our gang.

Another last minute selfie as that's what we do best! February absolutely flew by and a big part of me thought that the baby would arrive in February but they obviously want to be a March baby and thats ok too, I just hope they don't keep us waiting too long.

We've had a good February which included half term. Mark had a few days off during the week which was lovely, I turned 38 weeks that week so some help with the kiddos was very lovely and I am so thankful.

Harleigh loved having Parker off school but especially loved having Paige off. We didn't do much but sometimes thats the best. We did lots of playing, watching films and just spent time together. We also had a few park trips and spent time with friends.

I am so excited for March!

Living Room Makeover

We moved into this house whilst I was pregnant with Parker. We never really decorated the front room as in all honestly we couldn't afford and couldn’t be bothered. It’s only a rented property so we didn’t really see the point in making huge changes that would ultimately benefit someone else if we moved out in a couple of years. We hated the carpet but didn't want to spend that extra money on one so we just gave the walls a lick of paint and made do with the horrible carpet. It was in lovely condition just not to our taste at all, think 80s flower carpet.

I am currently pregnant again and I felt this huge need to re do the living room so we set about seeing what we wanted. It took a couple of months but we got there in the end and I am really impressed with how we've done. We wanted to wallpaper the walls, paint, get new carpet, a new sofa plus accessories. It was quite a big job and because I was pregnant I felt this huge urgency, even though my due date was months off I really wanted it done in time for harleighs birthday party when ideally our first aim was before the baby arrived.

The first thing we did was paint the wood work, radiators and ceiling which i'll be honest I hated. It just takes far too long but it did make a huge difference. We then started on the wallpaper. I say we but Mark did most of it, I helped out where I could. He had never wallpapered before so I am very proud of him. We picked a feature paper for around the fireplace and then a nice grey for the other walls. We wanted something super neutral and I loved the idea of a grey and white theme.

We ordered the new sofa and the next thing on the list was the carpet. It took us so long to pick one and we looked at so many carpets my brain started to hurt! We wanted a nice grey carpet that was very plain and wasn't too expensive. After getting some samples we found one we loved and once it came we got a friend to fit it for us.

We still haven't added all the final touches that I want, i'd love a new tv stand, a mirror and pictures of the kids for the wall but I am so happy with how the room has turned out so far. I’d love eventually to get new toy storage too, right now we have the Ikea Kallax unit and although it’s practical it doesn’t look very nice, this is what our tv is currently sat on too.

It won’t be completely finished by my due date, which is next week but I still love it so much and I’m so excited once the baby comes to add the finishing touches.

38 Weeks Pregnant - Baby #4

This week baby is around 6.8lbs which is around 3.3kg. They are also around 49.8cm long. The lanugo hair which covered baby is mostly gone and baby can now make a firm grasp with their hands.

This week was pretty full on, I was almost certain that baby would make an early appearance like big brother did but they didn't.
I decided to do a day by day account this week as i felt like so much was going on. At 38+1 I had reduced movements all afternoon so was asked to go for monitoring. It was all fine and they scheduled an ultrasound as they wanted to check my placenta. I also couldn't seem to get full in the evening, I ended up eating so much. At 38+2 I had pains on and off all day. They were super regular from 6-10:30pm, every 3-5 minutes lasting 40-50 seconds. I had a bath, walked, rested and nothing took them away. At 38+3/4 I felt really sick, tired and drained. At 38+4 I had my scan, everything was perfect and baby was measuring around 7lb 3/4oz. At 38+5 I was super grumpy, had backache, felt sick and pelvic pain. At 38+6 I had a midwife appointment, I felt so much pain and pressure all day, more pains lasting all day, I was extra tired and went to the toilet a lot. I was also really cold and had super cold feet.

I am getting pretty fed up now but trying to enjoy the last few weeks. The midwife said baby could come at any point and it really is just a waiting game. She said to try all the old wives tales and we tried most of them this week but nothing helped. I guess baby just isn't quite ready to meet us yet.

37 Weeks Pregnant - Baby #4

This week baby is around 6.3lbs and 48.6cm long. Baby is working on facial muscles an practising pouts, frowns and grimaces. Toenails should now reach the end of toes. The digestive system is still developing.

I'm still not sleeping well so I'm more tired and having more braxton hicks, they are usually lasting on and off all day. My heartburn seems to step up for a few days and i find myself waking up in the night because of it. I'm also having it during the day which didn't happen as much before.
I am more emotional this week and more hormonal, I am getting stressed out a lot more easily. I've also had more nausea this week, it seems to be quite bad in the mornings and around 5pm. My hips are also really sore as well as my legs and the pressure is quite bad too. Some days baby feels really low and others days not so much.
I have no idea when baby will come but i am really hoping its at 38/39 weeks like Parker and Harleigh.

36 Weeks Pregnant - Baby #4

Baby is around 5.7lbs and 47.5cm long. By the end of this week baby is considered full term. Baby is shedding the downy lanugo hair that covers the body and making their first poo.

This week I've had more of the same. More braxton hicks, heartburn and trouble sleeping. I'm also quite thirsty this week. I'm still quite tired and nesting a lot too. My legs are quite swollen at the tops and my feet are sore by the end of the day.
I also had my 36 week midwife appointment to wards the end of this week. Everything is still really good. I am measuring 35 cm which is only 1cm more than last time but they aren't worried. Baby is also 3/5th engaged!!! I do feel and look like i've dropped so makes sense that baby is engaged. My next appointment is the end of February and the midwife said it will be hit or miss if I make it or not. I will be a day off 39 weeks by then and we could have a baby before that appointment comes around. I'm really hoping for next weekend, but baby will come when he/she is ready.

A Simple Black Cardigan - My Winter Staple

It may just be a simple black cardigan but for me this winter it is my most worn staple item of clothing, especially as I approach my due date. It can be so hard during pregnancy to feel yourself, look good and feel comfortable. Your body changes a lot in such a relatively short space of time. Things change, you gain weight and lets face it towards the end you ache everywhere and can be really sore and tired. You need to wear clothes that you feel good in and comfortable in which allow room for growth and change. Maternity clothes are great for that but not everything needs to maternity. I hated buying maternity clothes this pregnancy as it will be my last so I know I won't really get much wear out of them.

A great cardigan was a most, I wanted one that wasn't maternity so I could wear it after giving birth too and it would last me for many winters to come. I have loved the waterfall cardigan from Fashion World and found it so easy to style together with my maternity clothes I already had to make some super cute and more importantly comfortable maternity outfits. The cardigan itself is really well made, lovely quality, super cosy and comfortable.

I love cardigans whether pregnant or not but found them super useful this winter. You do get quite hot during pregnancy so a jumper isn't always the most practical thing to wear, plus I didn't want to have to buy bigger jumpers or maternity ones! A cardigan is great to throw on and add an extra layer and will fit even after I lose the baby weight.

I've lived in maternity jeans/maternity leggings, maternity tops and my black cardigan. Its a great outfit for everyday!

What is your must have winter staple, pregnant or not?

Siblings - February 2019

Another month is gone and next month we will have FOUR siblings. I am so excited to see them all together and next months post will be the one!

They are all so excited and can't wait for baby cuddles. We've had a good month. They are looking forward to half term and are getting a little tired from school. Harleigh still really misses Paige and Parker when they are at school and I know she will love having them home for a week. They really don't see that much of each other during term time.

I had to get a cute picture of them all before three turns into four. It surprisingly wasn't that hard with daddy's help and I'm hoping the same can be said when the baby arrives and I want a picture of all four.

I also had to quickly jump in for some pictures. I love the pictures I have of my belly, Paige and Parker and adore these ones with Harleigh in too. It's still kind of crazy there will be four soon.

I am so excited and can't wait but i know i will miss my bump.

35 Weeks Pregnant - Baby #4

This week baby is weighing around 5.3lbs and is 46.2cm long. Apparently baby will gain 28g a day over the next few weeks until birth. The amniotic fluid around baby is naturally decreasing.

I'm starting to get tired now. Running around after three kids and being 35 weeks is rough at times. I'm finding the school runs are taking me longer and longer too. I'm also having trouble sleeping, not falling asleep but staying asleep and getting a decent amount is rough. I've had awful heartburn this week and more braxton hicks. I'm also nesting a lot more and trying to get everything cleaned and organised for baby.

Harleigh - Two Years Old

I am very late with update as Harleigh turned two in November!

Harleigh seems to have come on so much since turning two. She is such a little girl now and seems so grown up.

We have finally had some more words, bear, baba, buba (bubbles), idge (fridge), sausage, kiss, cuddle, yeah and nah (no). She tries to say words now which she never really did before. It's so lovely as people have also started commenting on her speech and how much she is improving.

She also has her 2 year molar coming in, like her others they took a good few weeks to come through fully though and I think oner might still only be three quarters of the way still.

Her naps are very up and down, she still needs one but can take up to an hour to go down, I think this is partly because I was holding her to sleep and then transferring her to her cot but now my belly is so big I was finding it harder and harder to put her into her cot whilst she was sleeping. So she now has to go to sleep laid in her cot, I usually sit right by her but I am hoping that soon I will be able to lay her down awake and she will fall asleep without me in the room, ready for when the new baby comes along but it isn't looking too promising as I am now only 4-5 weeks from giving birth.

She is such a lovely little character. She is so cheeky and so funny. She is such a lovely little girl to be around. I can't wait to see her as a big sister. My best friend has just had a baby and Harleigh is so cute around her!

She is slowly learning to count and her colours, I am trying to work on them with her. She also loves drawing and loves trying to draw faces.

Isabella Oliver Maternity Clothes Review

Maternity clothes are for me an essential part of pregnancy and my pregnancy wardrobe. I don't have tons of maternity clothes but a few pieces are key. Some people look great when they just go up sizes in regular clothes but for me I find that once I hit around 6/7 months pregnant you can't beat maternity clothes. They are super comfortable and really show off your bump.

I was sent some lovely items from Isabella Oliver to try out and review and have loved using them.

First up is the Blake Maternity Tee in White. This t shirt is to support maternity mental health with the charity Every Mother Counts, 50% of profits goes to the charity which is amazing. The t shirt itself is very well made and super comfortable. I sized down from my normal size as I felt the fit was a little better for me. It's great to pop on with some jeans and trainers for a easy going maternity look.

Next up is the Rosie Maternity Print Top, A lovely top with long sleeves and a cute black star print. Again I sized down in this top and love the fit. It works really well with bump and is super comfortable. I love the long sleeves for winter too!

Another item I have loved is the Maternity Treggings. These under the bump treggings are perfect for a paring with with the Rosie top. They are once again really well made and a lovely material. They are thicker than leggings which is lovely but more comfortable than jeans. I had to size up in these but they fit well once I did. The further along I get in my pregnancy the more annoying I find the under the bump fit but that is just personal preference, I do seem to prefer an over the bump fit in later stages of pregnancy. I think these will be great for after I give birth too!

I've loved these items and couldn't recommend Isabella Oliver enough. The quality of the items is amazing, the materials are lovely and really comfortable.
