LifeLab - Intolerance Test Review

If you read my mum and baby updates you will know that I’ve had issues from when Kingsley was around 6 weeks old and before I got pregnant too! I’m having a lot of issues with my stomach and loads of symptoms when I eat specific foods. I wanted to try get to the bottom of the issue so started looking into intolerance tests and I found LifeLabTesting and they offer a blood test which looks great.

I have gone down the root of my GP and to be honest they weren't that helpful. They did blood tests before I was pregnant to look for celiac disease and as that came back ok they just left it as that and told me to keep a food diary to try work out what was causing the issues. I did this and slowly began to realise that dairy, gluten, sugar and soy were all to blame but wanted something a little more concrete.

The blood test arrived and the instructions seemed very simple so I got prepared and also registered my test. You do this online on their website and it is super easy! Everything you need to complete the test is included in the box which is sent out very quickly after you purchase the kit.

I cleaned and pricked my finger. I managed to get one drop of blood and then my blood dried up. I was trying everything to keep it flowing and it just wouldn’t work, there are so handy tips in the leaflet too! I decided to have another go as I need to fill up a tube. Mark came home from work and helped me. It is a lot easier when you have someone else to massage your hand and help! I really recommend having someone to help you. Within 5-10 minutes we had filled the tube up.

Once finished I packed the tube and relevant information into the bag from the kit and posted it.  The results get emailed to you a few days after they receive the sample. You get a pdf which lists all the food they test for and your results towards those foods. They suggest that every food you have a high reaction to you stop eating and eliminate from your diet to see if you notice any improvement.

Im always 100% honest with my reviews and I will say that I was disappointed with the results. My results came back that I only had four reactions. None were high reactions, I had one medium reaction to yogurt and three low reactions which were Goats milk cheese, cream cheese and mustard. In my normal diet I don't eat any of these foods and going dairy free I defiantly don't eat yogurt and cheese. LifeLab were great when I expressed my concerns and offered me a couple of different people to talk to so they could ease my mind but I just feel like i'm back at square one. I'm having so many symptoms on a daily basis and have no clue what is causing them. I'm going to carry on with avoiding foods that i've found cause symptoms and carry on as I am. Hopefully as time goes on I will get to know my body better and really figure out what is going on.

The test itself was good, I had no problems at all and would recommend it to others, I just wasn't quite prepared to have such disappointing results, I thought this really would be the key to my problems.

4 & 5 Month Update - Mum and Baby

I have just realised that I completely missed Kingsleys 4 month update. Time is just flying by so I’m combining his 4 and 5 month update!

At 4 months he was obsessed with blowing raspberries. He learnt how to blow them really quite young and very quickly. He also rolled from his belly to his back at 15 weeks and sits very well with a little support. He is always grabbing his toys and putting our fingers in his mouth.

At 5 months he rolled from his back to his belly. He’s still only done this twice and refuses to do it again! He is constantly rolling from his belly to his back though. He can sit really well without any support. He also found his feet and loves putting them in his mouth. I love it when babies do this.

He can put his dummy in and out of his mouth and loves to grab and touch our faces. He is obsessed with food and constantly watches us eat. He started at 4 months trying to grab food from us if he was sitting on our lap.

He also loves his reflection and gets so excited when he sees himself. He also responds to his name and will walk if you hold his hands. He’s so strong!

He is on 6oz bottles and will have a 7oz bottle before bed. He eats once during the night too (4oz) and is usually up 2/3 times a night.

As for me I’m pretty much back to normal and have for a while. I’m now under my pre pregnancy weight and still eating gluten and dairy free. I fit into all my old clothes too. I haven’t worked out for ages as I’m just too tired from waking up 2/3 times a night. I know it will get better, it always does.

Baby Annabell Alexander and Baby Walker Review

Harleigh was recently sent a new doll to review. Having a new baby brother and an older brother and sister means that she loves babies. She has her own but it’s a tiny little doll we picked up with the food shop one day.

Now she has Baby Annabell Alexander. He is Baby Annabell’s little brother. He is very lifelike and he even responds to touches, can cry real tears and loves his bottle. If you gently rock Alexander back and forth he slowly closes his eyes and falls asleep. He also snores which Harleigh finds hilarious. He will move his mouth and eyes as he sucks his bottle. He also has a dummy for if he gets upset, which Harleigh isn't too fond of. Alexander can now wet his nappy too!

Harleigh really loves him, she especially loves caring for him whilst I’m looking after Kingsley. She likes to copy whatever i am doing, so if im changing Kingsley she likes to try change Alexander. She is too a little young to properly understand and use all of his features, for example she isn't really patient to rock him to sleep but with time she will be able to play more and more. For now her favourite things to do are feed him his bottle and change his nappy, although she can't do it properly yet. She also regularly makes him join her for picnics and tucks him into bed for a nap.

She was also sent the Baby Annabell Baby Walker. This is a remote controlled baby walker that moves forward, back, left and right. The control is super easy to use and a Baby Annabell or Alexander up to 43cm can fit in the seat. It also has some sound features too including a horn noise.

Harleigh hasn’t enjoyed it as much as I thought she would but I’m hoping as she gets a little bigger that she will. It actually scared her a little at first. It is a lovely little toy though and so easy and fun to use! Paige thinks its so cute and will regularly use it with her Baby Annabell. It's such a cute idea for a toy having it as a remote control is really fab!

I think around 3 or 4 would be the perfect age to fully get all the features of Baby Alexander and the walker but for now Harleigh loves feeing him and playing with her big sister and her Baby Annabell.

Siblings - July 2019

The past month has flown, I'm not sure how its gone so quickly. We are all counting down to the summer holidays which are now just a few days away. We don't have anything special planned but I'm so excited to just have slower mornings and hopefully some sunny weather.

Parker had his birthday and is now five! Kingsley had his 4 months jabs. Paige had her transition day at junior school and Harleigh seems so grown up recently.

I am so so excited to see them all grow up and bond over the summer holidays. Kingsley will grown up so much over the holidays im sure.

We've had some lovely days out this past month, some fun hours in the park and eaten lots of cake and chips! What more could you want?!

Me and Mine - June 2019

June was a bit of a crazy month. The kids got a sickness bug, Parker ended up in hospital and Kingsley had more injections and got a fever. Safe to say we had our fair share of illness. Thankfully everyone is ok now. Parker really suffered the most. He lost 6lbs in 5 days, had to have anti sickness medicine and fluids in hospital.

We ended the month with a lovely family day out to the beach. We had so much fun and I hope the weather is nice in the summer holidays so we can do it a few more times. The big two loved the sea and the sand. Harleigh was mesmerised with the sea and Kingsley loved it all!

I also went on a school trip with Paige which was lovely but meant that I left Kingsley all day, for the first time. Parker turned five too! The kids are getting so big and i'm just not ready for that to happen at all.

3 Month Update - Mum and Baby

Gosh, another month has passed so quickly yet again. Kingsley is 3 months old!

A lot changed this past month, I am now dairy and gluten free on advice from my doctor. Its a big change that I am still trying to get used to. I've lost 8lbs in the past month and have around 6lbs until I'm back to pre pregnancy weight. I still don't fit into all of my pre pregnancy clothes and can't see that happening for a while yet. I am working out 2-3 times a week. I am aiming for 3-4 but i am trying to be king to myself, I'm in no rush.

This is the difference in my stomach between 2 and 3 months postpartum and I think there's quite a big difference.

As for Kingsley he is still doing so well. He had his second lot of injections. He is starting to bat toys, is constantly blowing bubbles and tries so hard to blow raspberries. He is cooing and chewing on his hands and generally just loving life! He is now in 3-6m clothes and wearing size 3 nappies. He has around 6-7 bottles a day and 4-5 naps and gave us an 8 hour stretch one night!

He is getting more and more into toys as I mentioned and is currently loving chewing on toys and is loving Leo The Snail. He still can't intentionally hold him yet but he loves to chew on him.

Kingsley is no longer a newborn and looks like a proper little baby now. He is so chunky and so cute! His personality is really starting to come out too.

Happy 5th Birthday Parker

Today you are five. I still can’t quite believe it!! In the last 6 or so months you’ve really grown up and changed. You are a proper little boy now. You look older, act older. You are a big brother twice over and adore your sibling so much.

You are so excited for your birthday and deserve such a special day after the past weeks haven’t been so kind to you after an awful sickness bug and a stay in hospital.

Our sweet, kind, caring boy. FIVE!!!!

Happy birthday dude!!!!!

We love you so much xxxx

Siblings - June 2019

The past month was rough, not because of the kids but because of illness and sickness. Parker got a sickness bug but it completely wiped him out, so much so that he actually had to go to hospital have anti sickness medicine and have fluids. He was so poorly and lost so much weight, about 6lbs in 5 days. Thankfully he is ok now and I can feed him up! The girls also got it but theres wasn't have as bad. They were sick once and then had a fever for a day and were fine. Kingsley had more injections this month so they gave him a fever.

Apart from the illnesses we've had a good month. Half term passed by in the blink of an eye and before we know it the summer holidays will be here. Life goes so fast with four.

They all still adore Kingsley and I think that is just going to increase as he can play and interact with them more and more. I still love seeing them all together and I don't think that will ever change, even when they leave home!

Paige is now 7 and Parker will be 5 in just a few days. The year is almost half way over already and I just can't believe it. I wish i could freeze time for a little bit.

Me and Mine - May 2019

We’d have a bit of a strange May. We’ve had some real highs and me personally have had some lows but more on that in another post.

We started off with Paige’s 7th Birthday. She had a party with 10 of her friends from school and she loved it. All the kids did. We all did. It was so much fun and the first proper party she’s ever had. She now wants one every year!

Then came the holidays. They came around super quickly as this half term was only four weeks long. Crazy. We didn’t do much and just spent time together hanging out at home. We had a couple of nice days out though.

Just six more weeks at school and then the school holidays. I’m so excited!!!!!

The kids still adore Kingsley and he is almost 3 months old. I can't believe it.

I love this months picture of us, it was technically taken in June but shhhhhh.

2 Month Update - Mum and Baby

It doesn't seem possible, these weeks are still flying by too quickly. I still feel great, in all honestly my weight is starting to get me to a little. I know it takes times but it just feels so slow. I have around 15lbs to go which is only a loss of 1lb in the last two weeks. Slow and steady hopefully wins the race! I've had to stop working out as I hurt my knee.

I had my 8 week check at the doctors and everything is great. My stomach muscles have closed nicely and I just have a tiny gap now which is totally normal and not considered bad at all. I'm impressed that I managed to close the gap in 6-7 weeks. I am wearing some pre pregnancy jeans but they are still a little too tight on most days, I also still can't fit into some just for balance. I am avoiding dairy as I find they give me really horrible side effects so the doctor said that if i want to cut them out them thats fine. That also means i'm not eating chocolate, biscuits or cake anymore as my stomach just reacts so badly with them.

Kingsley is doing great. he also had his 8 week check and his injections. He now weighs 13lb 9oz and is still on the 75th percentile for his weight and head, which is 40cm. He did ok with his injections, i kept on top of medicine and that controlled the fever he had. He basically slept a lot more than usual but if he wasn't sleeping then he was crying, poor boy.

His sleep and routine is a lot more regular now. He usually feeds 6-7 times a day and will nap an hour after each feed. He is going to bed between 9-10pm and will usually wake once or twice during the night, he actually slept 7.5 hours a couple of nights! He can still be a little fussy around 4am.

He is giving us so many smiles and even some little giggles now, it is so sweet. He is also starting to dribble and has certainly found his hands!

He also had a little cold this month and was a bit stuffy, I guess that happens having three older siblings who bring germs home from school and playgroup. I liked using Snufflebabe to help clear his nose especially before a feed or bedtime. Its super handy I can order then with the food shop too!

Tomorrow You Are SEVEN!

Almost seven years since I first became a mum, it almost doesn't feel real. I don't feel like it's possible for Paige to be that grown up.

So much has happened this past year. She lost 4 baby teeth and gained 6 adult teeth. She moved into year 2 at school and absolutely loves it. She has found an even bigger love for reading and art. She gained another little brother too.

Paige is an absolute joy to be around, she is so caring and kind. She is the sweetest little girl and we all adore her more than anything.

Whilst taking her birthday pictures this year I had to stop myself from crying, she just look so big and I know that when her top front adult teeth come in she will look even bigger!

Our sweet big girl.

Siblings - May 2019

This year is flying by so quickly. I hate it, I really do. I want time to slow down so I can enjoy these four for longer.

They are all growing up so quickly. I try to cherish and soak up each and everyday but with four life is so busy that its tough to do. I don't think I will tire of seeing them all together and actually seeing them not as a four feels so strange to me now.

They all still adore Kingsley, I don't think that will change to be honest. He is going to love them all so much when he's older and will already give them the best smiles! They love helping me look after him, feeding him, playing with him and just generally be around him.

We are so lucky that they have all adjusted so well.

Six Week Update - Mum and Baby

These weeks are going far too quickly.

At 6 weeks postpartum I feel great. A little bit tired but surely that's expected. My legs are feeling better and my skin isn't too great but apart from that i can't complain. I also lost 3lbs since which is good, it's nice to see the scale finally moving again. i must admit I think i've struggled the most this time around with my body after pregnancy, well my weight after pregnancy. I gained the most I ever had this pregnancy, purely because i didn't have HG so I didn't lose much weight in the beginning when i usually lost around half a stone. I know in time it will get better and i will lose the weight but I am trying to speed it along anyway I can and it looks like it's finally starting to shift.

Before birth and 6 weeks after

Kingsley is doing so well. He slept 6 hours one night which was amazing, he usually does 4 hours at first and then is up every 1-2 hours. He did 9pm until 3am, had a feed and then went back down. Generally speaking he never really had his days and nights mixed up which was lovely, he is usually awake for a little while in the mornings and the evenings too. He is giving us so many more smiles and is cooing at us too. Its so lovely to see that interaction but I already miss my sleepy newborn, I love those first few weeks. He is eating 4oz every 2-3 hours and is wearing 0-3m clothes. He has a little bit of baby acne but not too badly, he also has cradle cap too. He is still a little fussy in the evening around 7-9pm. He's such a good boy in general and is so happy and content.

1 Month Update - Mum and Baby

A whole month since I gave birth, I can barely believe it. Its gone so fast, too fast. At 1 month postpartum I am feeling good, my appetite has come back which is nice. My weight is getting me down a little if im honest. I feel like i've hardly lost any weight but my belly is slowly going down. My legs are still a little sore at times and I have the occasional backache still. I still have my muscle seperation but I am down to a 2 finger gap instead of 3.

Kinglsey is also doing really well. He recently gave us a four hour stretch at night which is nice. He is on 4oz of milk and size 2 nappies. He tends to be a little fussy around 7-9pm at night, it kind of works out well as the bigger kids are already in bed so me and Mark can concentrate on him.

Me and Mine - April 2019

Another month has gone so quickly. This month we had the Easter holidays and my 30th birthday. we didn't do much for either and just time together as a family. We also had some really lovely weather which was so nice. I can't wait for more to come.

I still love seeing us as a six, it's still so new and just makes me smile from ear to ear. I'm not sure if I will ever feel completely done having children but this is our four and how our family will stay.

I can't wait to watch the children all grow together and for us to grow together as a family. Im excited for all the times ahead we have.

Two Week Update - Mum and Baby

Two weeks after delivery and I feel good but I am in a little pain and still a little sore. I keep having back cramps which are actually really painful, the after pains come and go as well. I'm also having headaches every now and again, just from the tiredness. My stomach went from 38 inches to 34 but my muscles are very weak and I have a 3cm gap in my stomach muscles.

At 2 weeks old Kingsley is now 8lb 12oz and was discharged from the midwife, everything is perfect.  He also had his hearing test and passed with flying colours. He is drinking 2-3oz every 3 hours, the longest he slept was a 3.5 hour stretch.

He also started tracking our movements and would follow us with his eyes, so cute!

He is so chilled out but hates his nappy changing. He rarely cries (apart from nappy changes) and loves bath time.

Siblings - April 2019

We are now 5 weeks into having four and I still love it just as much as I did 5 weeks ago.

The kids are all still obsessed with Kingsley and he loves it too. We couldn't of asked for anything more. They are all so lovely with him, especially Harleigh who won't stop kissing him and asking to cuddle him.

Paige and Harleigh are like little mums and just want to look after him, Parker loves cuddling him to and just can't wait for Kingsley to be old enough to play with him.

We are so lucky that so far they've all reacted so well, no jealousy or problems at all. They are such lovely kids and I can't wait to watch them grow up and their bonds to form even more but I am very much enjoying this early stage which is already going so fast.

Siblings - March 2019

I completely forgot to do my sibling post for March, that's totally ok after just having a baby right?!

Kingsley arrived on March 8th so by the time it cam round to do my sibling post a week later i completely forgot but didn't want to miss it so here it is.

The kids were so so excited to meet him and couldn't wait to meet him. They came in the morning less than 2 hours after he was born to meet him. It was so cute seeing them altogether. I have individual pictures of them all at hospital but this is the first one i have of them all together right after school the day he was born, just a couple of hours after we got home.

These two pictures are from the first week of his life and I love them. It feels so right seeing them as a four and it just makes my heart melt.

One Week Update - Mum and Baby

I'll start off with my update and then move onto Kingsley.

This was my quickest labour and I went from 4cm to delivery in 1 hour 50 minutes. I did have a 1st degree tear and stitches. In the first week I was really achy and sore from birth but generally I was doing really well. I had quite a few back spasms and after pains. I was also quite swollen in my hands and feet which i've never really experienced after birth before. At the end of pregnancy my belly measured 41 inch, after delivery I was down to 38 inches.

Kingsley passed all his newborn checks with flying colours. He was 8lb 5oz at birth and his head was 33cm. We got released from the birth centre 6 hours after delivery. He had his newborn check before we left and everything was good. He had a slight heart murmur but everything else was perfect. He didn't feed much that first day which is totally normal, his fast delivery took it out of him.

During the first week he ate 1 -2oz every 2-3 hours. He had his heel prick test on day 5 and was weighed again, he'd only lost 1.7% of his weight so was doing really well. On day 7 his cord came off.

He has fitted in so far really well and we are all loving the newborn bubble and don't want it to end. The kids are all obsessed with him and adore him.
